This Friday January 26, the International Court of Justice (ICJ) will issue a decision on South Africa’s request for provisional measures to bring an end to Israel’s ongoing genocide in Gaza.

Pretoria’s application calls on the ICJ to determine and declare that Israel has violated its obligations as a party to the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide. However, pending a final ruling on the case, it urged the court to indicate provisional (or emergency) measures to “protect against further, severe, and irreparable harm” to the Palestinian people and to “ensure Israel’s compliance” with the Genocide Convention not to engage in genocide, and to prevent and to punish genocide”.

As Israel has continued to wage a genocidal war on Gaza for over 100 days, the Occupation is now contending with the impact on its own economy.

After revoking the work permits given to Palestinian workers from the occupied territories, and foreign migrants having left Israel since October 7, the Zionist state has turned to recruit workers from countries in Asia and Africa, where working class people are especially vulnerable to economic crises.

🇵🇸 Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza entered its 115th day on Monday, January 29, as it continued intense bombardment and ground attacks across the besieged strip.

The continued siege, bombings, and killings are in blatant disregard of the provisional ruling by the International Court of Justice (ICJ), which called on Israel to take measures to protect civilians and to allow significantly increased humanitarian aid to enter into Gaza to alleviate the extremely dire humanitarian crisis in the Palestinian territory.
