#PeoplesHistory | Today, we remember the iconic legacy of Paul Robeson—a world-renowned singer, actor, athlete, and activist who epitomized proletarian internationalism and solidarity.

A vocal advocate for labor and an outspoken critic of fascism and imperialism, Robeson brought relentless passion in fighting oppression and injustice. His radical politics and embrace of socialism made him a prime target for the US government's attempts to stifle dissent.

Despite constant surveillance and condemnation, Robeson refused to disavow being a leftist or supporting the Soviet Union. His principled stands came at immense personal cost as a smear campaign stripped him of the fame he earned across artistic, academic, and athletic realms—even denying a US passport that left him stranded for years.

Though the establishment attempted to write Robeson out of history books, his extraordinary talents and unwavering commitment to truth continue inspiring new revolutionary generations today.

This Friday January 26, the International Court of Justice (ICJ) will issue a decision on South Africa’s request for provisional measures to bring an end to Israel’s ongoing genocide in Gaza.

Pretoria’s application calls on the ICJ to determine and declare that Israel has violated its obligations as a party to the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide. However, pending a final ruling on the case, it urged the court to indicate provisional (or emergency) measures to “protect against further, severe, and irreparable harm” to the Palestinian people and to “ensure Israel’s compliance” with the Genocide Convention not to engage in genocide, and to prevent and to punish genocide”.
