Since October 7, the over 8,000 Palestinian prisoners being held in Israeli prisons have been subjected to an extreme level of retaliatory violence by Israeli forces. In the midst of this brutal repression of prisoners, six Palestinian prisoners have been martyred in jails.

According to Wafa News Agency, on Thursday, December 14, Israeli forces opened fire on displaced families taking shelter in a school run by UNRWA and executed them inside Jabalya refugee camp in northern Gaza.
The report stated that Israeli forces shot members of two families, including children, women, and the elderly at close range after entering the premises. The report did not give an exact number of civilians killed.

Flooding in parts of Gaza has exacerbated the already dire conditions for Palestinians. The over 1.8 million internally displaced people who have been forced into makeshift tents and shelters not only face the continued threat of Israeli bombs, but also of infectious disease and unsanitary conditions.

Al Awda Health and Community Association and the People’s Health Movement (PHM) have launched a campaign calling for the release of Dr. Ahmed Muhanna, the director of Al Awda’s hospital in the area of Tal Al-Zaatar in Jabalya, northern Gaza.

Dr. Muhanna was detained by Israeli Occupying Forces (IOF) following a raid on Al-Awda Hospital in Jabalya that began on December 17. While other staff members were detained by Israeli soldiers, they were released after several hours of questioning. On the other hand, Dr. Muhanna was not released, and his current status remains unknown.

The High Court of Justice in London has decided to hear what could be Julian Assange’s final appeal against his extradition to the United States. A statement released by Wikileaks on Tuesday, December 19, announced that the High Court has confirmed a two-day hearing on February 20-21, 2024.
