Human-made climate change is the culprit as the emission of heat-trapping gasses continues to ramp up temperatures worldwide.

It is, as always, the working class who suffers most.

A new state law in Texas, one of the states most impacted by this week’s heat waves, will eliminate mandatory water breaks for construction workers, effective September 1.

Peoples Dispatch turns 5 today!

Five years ago, on July 20, the birthday of Frantz Fanon, we set out on an experiment in a different kind of journalism. A journalism that puts the agenda of people’s movements first and sees struggle as an integral part of humanity.

Over the past 5 years, we’ve covered strikes and protests, uprisings that have overthrown governments, struggles across the world against imperialism, and the determined pursuit of people for a better society and a better world.

Through these years, we have also sought to help build a different kind of media — one that is premised on cooperation and collaboration rather than competition, and consciously resists the agenda and methods of corporate media.

A huge shout-out to all those who have spoken to us, written for us, helped us in difficult circumstances, and inspired us to keep going. Lots of love to our viewers, readers, and listeners, especially those who sent vital feedback.

The “Dilemmas of Humanity: Pan African Dialogues to Build Socialism” conference in South Africa is set to conclude on Friday after three days of intense deliberations on the crisis of capitalism and the concrete alternatives that socialism offers.

Over three days, delegates discussed a variety of themes, including food sovereignty, gender justice, housing, and labor organizing. Here are some glimpses from the second and third days of the conference.
