“What is the path that we are going to chart towards socialism?” This is the question that animated the first day of the ‘Dilemmas of Humanity: Pan African Dialogues to Build Socialism’ conference.

Bringing together nearly 40 progressive peoples’ movements and organizations from across Africa, the four-day event is underpinned by a consensus — “that capitalism has no solutions for the problems that confront humanity.”

The People’s Summit was held from July 17 and 18 in Brussels, Belgium to parallel the III CELAC-EU Meeting. The summit brought together over 100 political and social organizations, to discuss, amongst the people, the most important issues facing the region and their communities.

Heads of State of Latin America, such as Miguel Diaz-Canel, Luis Arce and Gustavo Petro, as well as leader of France Insoumise, Jean-Luc Mélenchon and PTB president Raoul Hedebouw were present at the Festival of Solidarity between the Peoples.

The political leaders of different Latin American and Caribbean movements highlighted the importance of resisting imperialism, neoliberalism, and the environmental crisis provoked by the capitalist system.

A new state law in Texas, one of the states most impacted by this week’s heat waves, will eliminate mandatory water breaks for construction workers, effective September 1.
