Oppenheimer was fun to watch once, but it isn’t a great film. Predictably, it portrayed the revocation of his security clearance as unfair, despite his communist ties. The film thus painted McCarthyism in a negative light—“it was a witch hunt!” In reality it didn’t go far enough!

Much better than Tenet, though, which was undoubtedly Nolan’s worst. (And as a director he’s a bit overrated, still good). But I’d definitely prefer films on significant men of history, whatever their faults, to the woke diversity slop Hollywood churns out—little of that in Opp.

As far as Nolan is concerned, The Prestige and Dunkirk are his best imo. Batman trilogy is good fun...Batman Begins underrated compared to the other two! Still – he's no Kubrick. Overall, Nolan isn't an S-tier director, probably B, maybe A.

Just watched The Duellists (1977). Great film about honor and masculine rivalry, particularly how they can manifest in both petty and noble forms. Féraud was a deranged loser whose concept of honor was a mask for his pathetic hateful nature. d'Hubert did nothing wrong.
