Twitter truly was, and to a limited extent, still is, the global village—more so than any other social media site.

This applies to the internet overall. Consider the media ecology of the pre-internet 20th century: newspapers, TV, radio, and movies. Most of these were fairly centralized to begin with and only became more so over the course of the century. The internet, for a time, shattered the establishment’s near-monopoly on the creation of culture and dissemination of information. We should count ourselves fortunate that we experienced this digital Wild West, even if it’s gradually coming to an end.

Early twitter had such a low bar to entry with nearly no oversight, now its just janny central and egomaniac paradise

One regret is not downloading the data for my various now-suspended accounts. So many great tweets lost forever.

I definitely wish I had screenshotted or archived great tweets from others, too.

YouTube removed Joe Rogan's interviews with Dr Robert Malone and Dr Peter McCullough.

That Joe Rogan of all people is now deemed a dangerous thought criminal tells you everything you need to know about the farcical state of political discourse in America. This is the guy who speaks positively about Michelle Obama, after all! Hardly a right-wing extremist, but he’s treated as one because he isn’t willing to entirely conform to leftist morality.

I just finished rewatching Once Upon a Time in America (1984) for the first time in over a decade. It’s a superb film—definitely one of the better crime epics. Worth watching if you have four hours to spare.

It’s possible for both of the following to be true:
1. A healthy dose of skepticism regarding politicians is wise.
2. Every politician advocating for things we want isn’t part of some secret scheme to subvert the right.
Controlled opposition does exist, but some would have you believe that every politician or candidate who isn’t 100% explicit on the issues has ulterior motives.
Don’t be so jaded that you wind up believing that good things can’t happen.
