The Silence of the Lambs: a film about the danger trannies posed to society before we pacified them with Overwatch and Discord.

Jokes aside, this film is a little over two decades old—it couldn’t be made now for obvious reasons.

This applies to the internet overall. Consider the media ecology of the pre-internet 20th century: newspapers, TV, radio, and movies. Most of these were fairly centralized to begin with and only became more so over the course of the century. The internet, for a time, shattered the establishment’s near-monopoly on the creation of culture and dissemination of information. We should count ourselves fortunate that we experienced this digital Wild West, even if it’s gradually coming to an end.
