The term cancel culture, of course, fails to fully capture the severity of the situation. It makes me think of some rich celebrity getting shamed for an offensive joke. The reality is that we live under soft totalitarianism, a system in which expressing the ‘wrong’ opinions carries an immense social cost. And, as we’ve seen this year, soft totalitarianism is quickly tending toward hard totalitarianism, as the power of the state is increasingly weaponized against dissidents.

The truth is that most people support cancel culture applied to those whom they dislike. The issue is that the establishment right is more inclined to cancel real right-wingers, whereas the left—which has far more institutional power—is focused on collectively cancelling the right.

Once again, there will not and should not be a bipartisan populist alliance.
The economic populism we support is tariffs, tax cuts for the middle class, and immigration restriction. They want to abolish private healthcare and turn your kids trans while throwing open our borders to the third world.
Moreover, right-wing populism isn’t primarily about economics: it’s about identity issues such as demographics and immigration. Thinking that American decline can be reversed solely or primarily via economics is absurd.
