Conservatism Inc.'s function—at least one of them—is to brainwash people into believing we have a level playing field. We simply do not. Recognizing this needn't entail a plunge into socialism; on the contrary, the proper solution is nationalism.

Interesting WSJ op-ed: The author concedes that our ruling class has made an absolute mess of things, while at the same time smearing Trump as a dumb racist. Regardless, he's correct about the coronavirus empowering Trump. Despite the administration's initial hesitance to address the pandemic, the latest Gallup poll shows 60% of respondents believing that Trump is responding to the coronavirus well. 49% approve of Trump overall, which is significant. Trump has styled himself as a wartime president for a reason—look into the rally 'round the flag effect.

The coronavirus situation in Washington seems to have leveled out, i.e. they managed to flatten the curve. 3200 infected and 147 dead. This is probably what we can expect in most of the country, assuming it even gets that bad. New York, however, will suffer for months most likely—possibly LA too. But this does bode well for the country overall.

Come Easter we should seriously consider lifting *some* restrictions. The elderly and those with preexisting conditions should stay home until the coast is clear, given that they’re the ones for whom coronavirus poses a mortal danger. Also, the lifting of restrictions should account for regional variation; as previously stated, New York—particularly NYC—will likely remain shut down the longest.
