"Its analysis of coronavirus cases in China and elsewhere shows that about 17 per cent of people admitted to intensive care develop a condition called acute respiratory distress syndrome (Ards) - one of the most lethal conditions in medicine, with a mortality rate of about 40 per cent."

Long-term Coronavirus Damage: Should We Be Worried?
Short answer: Yes, though not that worried β at least not yet.
Now for the long answer.
Given that 80% of coronavirus infections are mild, many have concluded that thereβs nothing to worry about. Get the coronavirus, tough it out for ten days, and then move on with your life. Applied on the macro level thatβs more or less the UK governmentβs strategy β βherd immunity,β as Iβm sure youβve heard it described β despite objections from a growing body of experts.
But is it that simple? No, not really. Thereβs evidence to suggest that COVID-19 can result in long term respiratory and reproductive (!) damage.

ββA Crisis of Leadership
No one's in charge. Our wonderful democracy is little more than a commons in which the 'leaders' are primarily concerned with short-term financial gain. Those with power use it to loot everything that isn't nailed down. America is a shambling, headless monster.
This of course isn't to suggest that American decline is purely the result of impersonal forces. There are absolutely organizations and individuals with disproportionate amounts of power β such a claim is hardly controversial. The point here is that our ruling class β rightfully termed globalist β has no vested interest in the success of America. Our country matters to them only insofar as it can be used as a tool to defend their interests. The result: a lack of real accountability and leadership.
Any attempt to restore order in America must remedy this crisis. Good governance requires elites to be invested in the success of their country; otherwise, the aforementioned looting will occur. In other words, elites need a reason to govern wisely, benevolently, and (mostly) unselfishly. Virtuous leaders β men who truly believe in maximizing the good via political action β are few and far between. A civilization cannot count on the presence of such men to be a constant β hence the need to incentivize good governance.

A lot of people become hopeless about our prospects as dissidents because they are looking 10, 20, or 30 years into the future based on what our country looks like today. But our country wonβt look like it does today in even 5 years. If we are correct, these βgood timesβ are the dying breath of Traditional America. The current largess of stock market highs and entertainment spectacles belie the peril we are in.
