Claimed to have been <designed and built in one year and 5 months> when the total population was 20,000 people, on top of a crypt-chapel "founded" in 1914.
How big was that crypt for a pop. of 11,000 at the time that you could build a massive basilica on top of it?

From wiki: The cathedral was built on the foundations of the crypt-chapel of the parish of Our Lady of the Assumption, founded in 1914 by Henri D. Cormier. Louis-Joseph-Arthur Melanson, the first archbishop of the new Archdiocese of Moncton, announced on 9 January 1938, his intention to erect a cathedral-basilica ... Work began on 24 April 1939 by the Ambrose Wheeler company of Moncton, two days after the signing of the contract. ... The exterior and interior of the building were completed in the fall of 1940. 

If that's impressive, wait till you see the mental asylum built in 1835 when the entire province's population was claimed to be 119,000.

Towers of Bologna. According to Wikipedia, Bologna had up to 180 of these Towers built in the 13th century. Some were destroyed in 1917. Today, only around 20 remain.
