My friend @Amit548 and I are working on optimizing Battery Guru. We will rewrite the entire UI using Jetpack Compose, we started this process few days ago, and we have already a good progress.
What does this mean for Battery Guru?
- In the next test version (no ETA yet), you’ll enjoy a fluid interface with loading indicators in places where they’re currently missing. We’re adopting Android’s recommended native approach, which brings smooth transitions, concise animations and reduced performance overhead. The app size may even decrease, but not sure about it yet.
- I plan to replace the current chart library, which is outdated, with either our own solution or a modern alternative. Until then, MPAndroidChart will remain in use.
This process will take some time, but I’m not in a hurry. I’m enjoying learning Compose after using XML layouts for the past nine to ten years.
