Around that time there was a scholar who wrote a few books - a decade before al-Shaffi - who completely decimated the "Science of Hadith".
The only reason we know this man existed was because of the extensive refutations from the traditionalist. Naming his books BY NAME.
Yet we don't have an actual copy of the book they refuted.
It was believed that 100% of his library was lost to time.
Why?
