Church of the Protection of the Mother of God in Barkhatovo, Russia. Founded in 1999, it is a parish of the Metropolis of Krasnoyarsk under the Moscow Patriarchate. The original parish in this village ceased operating in 1937 with the martyrdom of Fr. Pavel, and the church was destroyed in 1972. Some of the villagers approached Fr. Andrei from the nearby town of Sosnovoborsk about forming a new parish. Many of the locals had drifted away into Protestantism, but they agreed to support the formation of an Orthodox parish and returned to the Church. Today a new Fr. Pavel pastors the flock in this village close to Krasnoyarsk. The faithful meet in a small house that was converted for the needs of the parish, but the church is outgrowing that house and Fr. Pavel is raising money to build a new permanent church that will be better suited to supporting the Orthodox Christians of Barkhatovo.
