Battery One | Wakelocks Viewer Preview

The attached video demonstrates our upcoming feature: the Wakelocks Viewer. It provides the most detailed and user-friendly analysis data currently available on the market — a level of depth competitors don't offer.

Key advantage: It works entirely via Shizuku. No root access or complicated ADB commands are required, making this powerful tool accessible to absolutely everyone.

This feature has already helped me pinpoint a potential cause for the poor battery life in the latest Android 17 Beta. For some reason, the system Camera app has been holding a wakelock for a couple of hours straight! 😁

Battery One | Beta Update v2.5.0

What's New:
• Database Redesign: Conceptually changed the logic of writing and retrieving statistics.
• Isolated Service: The application now runs in two separate processes with an isolated background service.
• Import & Export: Completely redesigned and improved data import and export methods.
• App Power Consumption: Optimized the algorithm for retrieving application power usage statistics.
• Capacity History: Added saving of the history of each battery capacity calculation (UI display will be added in future updates).
• Usage History: The amperage chart is now also available for discharging sessions.

⚠️ Warning:
• The first launch of this version will take longer than usual to migrate the old database. Your current tracking session will be stopped.
• There is a minor risk of data loss during migration. We highly recommend backing up your database using the Export feature before installing this update.

Battery One | Behind the Scenes of v2.5.0 Beta

Some thoughts on the massive under-the-hood changes in the 2.5.0 beta. This update was a necessity, driven by three major architectural goals:

• Eliminating ANRs: The primary objective of this database redesign is to drastically reduce Application Not Responding (ANR) errors. The old database, due to architectural limitations, was prone to causing these bottlenecks.
• Process Isolation: The new architecture allows us to separate the UI and the background service into two isolated processes. This separation is expected to improve overall system stability and reduce idle power consumption (though we need real-world beta data to confirm these benefits).
• Scalability: With this clean slate, we can now store more granular data points, which paves the way for introducing advanced statistical algorithms and deeper insights in future updates.

What's next during the Beta?
As promised, the current/amperage chart zoom feature will be added during this beta testing phase before the stable public release.

Battery One | Zoom Poll Results & Upcoming Beta v2.5.1

In the previous poll, the Classic Pinch-to-Zoom option won by a small margin.

I have refined this approach and added handy features like a double-tap for quick zoom in and out. It now feels much more intuitive, smoother, and more polished than what was shown in the initial video.

About Beta v2.5.1:
The upcoming beta update will be released in the coming days. I need a bit more time to:
• Add one more feature to the charts.
• Fix ANR crashes occurring during the database migration from older app versions.

- Day boundaries are now separated by a dashed line on all charts for easier time-frame identification.
- Added date display for simpler navigation even in the longest sessions.
- For amperage charts, added zoom and horizontal scroll in "All" mode, and horizontal scroll for other modes.
- Charging amperage chart timeframes changed from 8 and 36 minutes to 80 seconds and 8 minutes (matching the discharging chart).

Battery One | Beta Update v2.6.0

What's New:
• Two New Independent Capacity Calculation Methods:
- By Charging: Measures the capacity the battery demonstrably accepts. The app no longer splits this into singular and cumulative methods — the new method combines the best qualities of both. The estimate is more resilient to charging pauses and an uneven percentage scale. The notion of full/partial charge cycles is also gone; the only requirement left for a session is a charge of >15% plus passing internal data-quality checks. Charge above 100% no longer counts toward capacity, but is still shown in the usage history.
- By Discharging: Shows the capacity the battery delivers during use. It is based on a map the app has been building for a long time, so for existing users the data is already available with a high degree of confidence.
• Method Descriptions & Data Visualization: Added a detailed description for each method, plus a visualization of the data the calculation is based on.
• Confidence Indicator: Added a capacity-estimate confidence indicator with 3 levels: Low, Medium, High.
• Smart Charging, Charge Limits & Bypass: Improved handling of smart charging, charge limits, and bypass mode. The app detects when the device has stopped charging and places a marker visible on the amperage chart. If charging never resumes after the marker, the session gets trimmed — so the useless data accumulated during the idle time won't skew the session's statistics or chart.
• New "History" Tab: The percentage and temperature charts, along with the recent sessions list, have moved from "Health" to a dedicated "History" tab. "Health" is now entirely about capacity and wear.
• Dedicated Usage-History Block: Usage history now has its own full-fledged block showing the last 2 sessions as cards. Tapping the third card opens the standard dialog with the full session list.
• History Filters: Added filters for the full history list.
• Translations: Improved translations; some descriptions were rewritten from scratch.
• UI Fixes: Fixed several UI bugs.
