🪗 Arreglo Nº67: Acorazado Rivadavia 🪗
🇪🇸 Me he saltado unos cuantos, sí. No he dejado de trabajar en arreglos y composiciones, pero otros quehaceres impiden dedicarle ese rato extra que necesito para convertir las partituras a este formato de vídeo. Ya era hora de actualizar un poco. Salvando los cuatro o cinco arreglos con temática de Navidad (que no veo con mucho sentido subir ahora) hay unos cuántos esperando en cola. El advenimiento de la ya mencionada por enésima vez página web se está retrasando por el mismo motivo: escasez de tiempo. Pero ahora a lo que vamos:
"Acorazado Rivadavia" es el nombre de un buque de guerra acorazado que utilizó la armada Argentina entre los años 10 y los años 50. El por qué Ángel Villoldo le hizo un tango (tango-milonga en realidad, a 2/4) lo ignoro. No he encontrado información al respecto, y de hecho esta pieza no está entre los clásicos de este compositor.

Apart from the four or five Christmas-themed arrangements (which don’t make much sense to upload now, do they?), there are quite a few waiting queued. The arrival of that website I’ve mentioned a gazillion times is being delayed for the very same reason: lack of time. But anyway, let's get to the point:
“Acorazado Rivadavia” refers to an armored battleship that was part of the Argentine Navy’s fleet between the 1910s and the 1950s. The motivation behind Ángel Villoldo’s composition of a tango (specifically, a tango-milonga in 2/4 time) dedicated to this vessel remains unclear to me. Why? Perhaps I shall never know, and reasearching further seems no easy feat since this piece is not precisely one of the best known Villoldo's works.

🪗 Arreglo Nº69: There's Power in the Blood 🪗
🇪🇸 Este es un arreglo para cuatro voces de acordeón —y unas cuantas variaciones originales— de un famoso himno cristiano americano probablemente basado en el versículo 12:11 del libro de las revelaciones.
"There's Power in the blood" o "Hay poder en la sangre" fue compuesto por Lewis Edgar Jones (que por algún motivo no tiene página en Wikipedia) en 1899, y a día de hoy existen versiones muy buenas del mismo, algunas producidas hace pocos años. Es de sus himnos más populares, si bien hizo alrededor de 200.
Con respecto al vídeo tengo que decir que hacía tiempo que no tenía tantos problemas. Este ordenador está a punto de pedir la jubilación y por tanto es probable que los siguientes vídeos los haga sin fondo o me acabará pasando lo mismo que con los vídeos de Youtube de los Nocturnos.

🇬🇧 Hey! A bit late, I know. I wish I was able to upload this one yesterday, but my PC is about to die and it really shows. It is VERY likely that the following videos get no background. It's just a detail, but it kind of drains my old CPU and pushes it to levels it can apparently not afford to be.
"There's Power in the Blood", maybe some of you know this hymn made by Lewis E. Jones (no wikipedia page this time). I personally did not, since I am not much into, let's say, "American folk" music, neither old gospel music. But what a discovery. There's a particular version in YouTube that I loved which led me to make this arrangement and a couple of variations.

Dedicado a Carlos G.
🇪🇸 Los pasodobles son obras herederas de marchas militares a tiempo binario (aunque esto no está 100% claro). Es un tipo de pieza muy popular en los bailes de salón de por aquí, pero también es desfilable. Es frecuente encontrarlos publicados en solitario o como parte de un conjunto musical más grande, como una suite o una comedia.
Este último es el caso de La Banderita, que forma parte de la humorada Las Corsarias, cuya música está enteramente compuesta por el maestro Francisco Alonso. He sacado el arreglo del audio de una de las interpretaciones de banda que circulan por internet, y por tanto hay ciertos fragmentos de la partitura original que han sido sustituidos o eliminados.

Recomendación de un compañero acordeonista: duplicar el bajo en voz IV.

🇬🇧 Pasodobles, typically played in bands nowadays, sound very nice in the accordion. They are pieces in binary meter that can be either danced or paraded. They were usually published either alone or within a broader work like a zarzuela or a lyrical comedy.
In fact, the piece I am bringing today is part of one of those lyrical comedies called Las Corsarias whose music was composed entirely by Francisco Alonso. This piece is very demanded in military band concerts and thus it is part of their common repertoire. I have based my 4-voice accordion arrangement on some of these versions and not on the original which, despite very similar, differ in the beginning and minimally in some other parts that are either replaced or removed.

🇪🇸 Esta pieza es una combinación de Pasodoble y Jota. Por algún motivo el autor. Carlos Montero (o Juan Carlos Zamboni según la fuente), conocido por sus interpretaciones de tangos a guitarra y voz pensó que era buena idea combinar géneros tan distintos, y quizá acertara de pleno. Tengo entendido que fue comisionada por el propio pueblo de Santorcaz y adoptada como himno que suele interpretarse en las fiestas del lugar.
Este no es un arreglo solo para acordeón. Está pensado para interpretarse en nuestra Orquestina RadioSordina. ¡Por cierto, concierto el 11 de Abril!

🇬🇧 I'm here again with a rare breed. A combination of two typically Spanish genres that very rarely go together. One of them, the "Pasodoble", typically in binary form. You may know already from the last arrangement or from youtube itself. The other, some variant of the "jota", a traditional dance VERY extended in the whole spanish territory. They both pertain to different worlds: the world of bands, military marches, parades and written music on one hand and the world (very roughly) of oral tradition.
They do meet, most likely, whenever local festivities happen, but you will rarely see an example of a single piece that contains both genres.
Welp, this is it. It was apparently commissioned to singer, guitarrist, arranger and composer Carlos Montero by the village of Santorcaz (and then it was adopted as the official hymn of the place). I made it for a broader formation, not just accordion this time. Maybe we'll play it in the future... No clue.

🇪🇸 Esta pieza la arreglé el otro día para probar una herramienta que convierte los .json del Piano Tiles 2 en .mid, que puedo leer con musescore. Santo Dios, los archivos que quedan son ilegibles. Sin embargo, en cosa de 8 horitas pude limpiar un poco el asunto y quedó así la pieza. El compositor es Yubo Fan, contratado desde hace tiempo para el juego ya mencionado. Esta pieza no me apasiona particularmente pero un chaval quería la partitura, así que empecé probando con esta. Sería casi una transcripción de no ser por, repito, el trabajo de "limpieza" que he tenido que hacerle.

🇬🇧 I arranged this for piano solo the other day while experimenting with this "json2midi" tool that allows converting json files to mid files from the once popular game "Piano Tiles 2". Works, but the result is terrible for reading. Mixed clefs, voices, strange rhythms and tempos, etc. So after around 8 hours I ended up arranging and cleaning it. Still, it's a difficult piece but playable, unlike the raw material that comes out of the tool.
