As a final step for the V7 upgrade, some core contributors planned to undertake a more thorough audit of Community and Slow Wallets.
An unauthorized use of several Community Wallets was discovered, arising from an improper manipulation of the smart contracts governing those wallets. This issue has been fixed.
Much as Ethereum did following the DAO hack, validators decided they did not want to reward bad conduct that has the potential to seriously harm the community as a whole. They are conducting a hard fork.
All accounts which benefited improperly from the abuse of the Community Wallet System will not be migrated to the new software. Accounts which acquired the stolen coins innocently (accounts on boarded by the Discord Faucet and Comswap/0lswap), will be unaffected.
It is estimated that 4% of the total supply will permanently disappear on the forked chain ("burned").
The hard fork is in progress now. The old network is now halted, and no further manipulation can take place. Expect this new network to be live shortly.
As with all hard forks, the earlier network and its software remains available for all who wish to continue running it.
The community members now joining this fork firmly believe that this kind of wrongdoing will never be tolerated on validators that they run.

Scorpions Claw recommendation is complete.
In 24 hours at 19:00 UTC a validator ceremony is going to happen that will follow the recommendation to hard fork.
The registration is open to validators who want to be part of this public ceremony for the hard fork. You do not need to have been an 0L validator or have an account to participate. Follow this link for instructions:
