There's an old saying that you have probably heard or seen: "When the producer names the tune, the consumer has got to dance."
Of course we are seeing once again just how true this is.
The key to all things off-grid in my view is to become the producer rather than the consumer in as many ways as possible. Whether it's producing your own electricity, food or even making your own tools, being productive is one of the main keys to independence. It gives you resilience; those who are hit the hardest by inflation and supply shortages are those who rely on everything from outside. Whereas the veggies in your garden don't even know what inflation means... 😉

The quality of the soil is a very important factor in successfully growing carrots; it should be sandy, well-drained loam. Heavy soils cause the carrots to mature slowly.
