Low Tech might not be so fancy as High Tech, but it has some real advantages: It's generally more robust / reliable / self-reliant. It's easier to repair. It's easier to source parts and even to fabricate your own. The future will probably be a mix of Low and High Tech. Low Tech isn't going away any time soon.

In the UK, the price of electricity is getting a MASSIVE hike on April 1st. It's not a joke, but somebody's laughing (all the way to the bank).
This is a knock on effect of oil price. It's also going to have a further knock on effect because energy is used for everything from food manufacture to delivery to keeping the lights on in the shops.....
Look at this from another angle. Relative to oil / electricity, the price of solar electric just came tumbling down.
The time it takes for a solar power setup to pay for itself just shortened dramatically.
I knew this was coming and I upgraded my entire off grid solar setup. I think it's a scam, personally - there's just as much oil in the world as there was a month ago - but there's nothing we can do about what THEY do.
But there is a lot we can do about what WE do.
On a personal level, I can do without their grid now. Can you?
Time to get it handled!

Manufactured scarcity is a scam. They have figured out they can do this to you now.
Remember how in 2020 the banks cut the interest rate on your savings to 0.01%?
Did you also notice that they didn't put it back up again after the lockdowns were over?
Did you ALSO notice that MANY banks - not just a few - posted record profits in 2020 and 2021?
They did not do this "because they needed to".
They did this because they saw an opportunity to screw you and use the "global panic" as a cover.
These people do not give a **** about you, or me. Their mentality is that if they have a chance, they will eat your lunch and that if you let them, it is your problem.
Same with lumber prices (there were no less trees in 2021 than there were in 2020 and no shortage of people to work on them).
It was a price squeeze by a monopoly of sawmills.
Now in 2022 they saw their opportunity to slam oil prices through the roof.
The Saudis did this in the 1970s - not because there was a shortage, but BECAUSE THEY COULD.
There is no less oil in 2022 than there was in 2021.
The oil price will affect ALL other prices - because most of our infrastructure runs on it.
Electricity has followed next.
Everything else has now become more expensive to produce.
The flipside is that solar is now MASSIVELY DISCOUNTED compared to the price of oil / grid electricity.
There has never been a better time to go solar.
If you are thinking about it, get it done before all the prices go up!
Go solar! Cut loose from their CONTROL of your money.
Solar is also of course less polluting.
There's a bit of a learning curve. I've been messing around with solar panels since the mid 1990's - when my first 80 watt panel cost £400. £5 per watt!!
Now the price of panels is around $1 per watt, depending on the size and quality of the panel.
