Just a week after students were brutally arrested on Gould Plaza for protesting NYU's complicity in the genocide in Gaza, NYU has threatened all students at the second Gaza Solidarity Encampment with suspension if they do not leave the encampment by noon today.
We are here for Palestine. We are here to have this university divest from genocide and settler-colonial occupation. NYU has only negotiated with us in bad faith to this point. They have tried time and time again to clear us from this space. But we will not leave until this university divests from the genocidal Zionist project. We will stay and build our movement here and push this university until it listens to its students.

On Friday, we conceded to the University by taking down our tents. But 4 nights on the ground later, the University has has elected to threaten students with suspensions and publish bold faced lies about it's own community members rather than make steps towards addressing our demands. NYU Administration has refused to negotiate in good faith and so far proven they are only capable of empty threats. We are not concerned by threats of suspensions when our tuition money is funding a genocide and occupation in Gaza. We are not scared of any cop mayor or cop administrator.

The death count is currently unknown. 45,000 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza since October 7th and 2 million Palestinians in Gaza have been displaced. 

Today, we continue to hold space at 181 Mercer. Join us for a May Day full of action and solidarity all over the city.

UPDATE: We are concerned that several CCNY students who have been arrested, predominantly students of color, have spent their 2nd night in jail and have yet to be arraigned. NY law requires arraignment within 24 hrs of arrest. CCNY President lies claiming that CCNY Students were not targeted.

We demand their prompt processing and release along with every CUNY Community member who was arrested at the CGSE.

UPDATE: ALL of our CUNY comrades have finally been released.

We are enraged by the brutal force and violence perpetrated by NYPD, SRG and CUNY PS. We ask you all to continue to call and email the CUNY administration and hold them accountable.

We need to press CUNY to advocate for withdrawing all charges against the protesters and to refuse to participate in the prosecution.

Not only is CUNY complicit in the genocide of our people overseas- but they are also directly responsible for calling the pigs to abuse and assault our people over here as well.

Our demands have always been clear and we remain principled in our solidarity. We do this for Gaza. We do this for Palestine. And with Rafah under a brutal siege and attack, there is nothing that can deter us from our goal to achieving liberation.
