💥 Kickoff! The 2022 FIFA World Cup starts in Qatar this week, and football fever takes centre stage ⚽️💨.

On a tech-based note, did you know that artificial intelligence (AI) 🤖 is also making its way into the world of football?

That’s right, SAOT or semi-automated offside technology will be used alongside VAR to help referees make more accurate decisions.

It uses AI to trace ball and player movements in real time and sends automated alerts to video match officials when an offside is detected.

Can SAOT help referees make better decisions? Will it force teams to rethink their strategies? Who do you think will take the trophy 🏆 home this time?

And can AI help predict the 2022 World Cup winners?

From Japan's 🇯🇵 controversial goal against Spain 🇪🇸 to Argentina's 🇦🇷 questionable penalty during their match against Croatia 🇭🇷, Video Assistant Referee (VAR) technology has left fans, and critics divided.

On the one hand, it has led to more accurate and possibly fairer decision-making while also tightening player discipline 💪. But, others have claimed that VAR is also responsible for some questionable decisions 🤔 and may cloud the judgement of referees.

Now, as Argentina 🇦🇷 faces off against France 🇫🇷 this Sunday, how do you think VAR will affect team strategy? And do you think technology should play a bigger role in football?
