We're so proud of NUS Computing alumnus Thiru (Business Analytics, Class of 2018), who created this crowd-sourced overlay on Google Maps that highlights digitally disadvantaged hawkers struggling to survive during the pandemic. That's what we hope all our students do when they head out into society - empower the world with tech!
(P.S. Anyone keen to share their ideas or help in any way with the map are welcome to reach out to Thiru, who goes by waffleboy92 on Reddit.)

We're excited to share that we've launched the Centre for Computing for Social Good & Philanthropy (CCSGP)!
The Centre provides students with opportunities to give back to society and to cultivate a philanthropic ethos among future generations of tech leaders.
The new Centre will bring together three existing community programmes under NUS Computing and introduce two new initiatives this year. Over time, more programmes will be introduced with the ultimate goal of having 1 in 8 NUS Computing students participate in programmes or projects under the new Centre.
The new Centre was officially launched today by Mr Heng Swee Keat, Deputy Prime Minister and Coordinating Minister for Economic Policies.

We're inspired by NUS Computing graduate Chan Wei Zhang's (Information Security, 2021) journey: an ITE and Republic Polytechnic graduate, Wei Zhang applied to NUS Computing twice after setting his mind on studying here. He did so in a bid to prove wrong the people who had negative stereotypes of the less academically inclined. We're proud to see that he accomplished what he set out to do! 🎉 🎓
We leave you with some wise words from Wei Zhang: "Don't compare yourself with others because there will always be others who are better than you. If you try, but fall short, it is not the end of the world. There are always opportunities for you to grow."
