On 19 March 2026, NUM iLAW organized a study visit to the Phnom Penh Court of First Instance to gain practical insight into Cambodia’s judicial system.
The delegation was warmly received by Mr. Tithsothy Borachath, Deputy President of the Court, and Mr. Y Rin, Chief of Administration, who provided an informative briefing on the court’s role, functions, and operational processes.
During the visit, students had the opportunity to learn about first-instance trial procedures, the rights and roles of parties in a case, and the jurisdiction and responsibilities of the court. They also toured key facilities, including the courtroom and administrative offices, allowing them to better understand how judicial procedures are carried out in practice.
We sincerely thank the Phnom Penh Court of First Instance for their warm hospitality and for sharing valuable knowledge with our students. This visit greatly contributed to strengthening their understanding of legal practice and the administration of justice in Cambodia.
