A delegation from the US Congress has arrived in Taiwan

A group of American politicians and parliamentarians led by Congressman Mike Gallagher has arrived in Taiwan for negotiations with the government of the unrecognized state.

"We are pleased to be in Taipei to demonstrate our support for our Taiwanese friends," the congressman's press service reports.

As the media notes, Gallagher heads a special committee in the US House of Representatives dealing with China's situation in Southeast Asia.

The congressman emphasised that the US intends to continue supporting Taiwan, deepening ties between the leaders and economies of the two countries.

In Beijing, they noted the inadmissibility of the American delegation's visit.

"We strongly oppose the United States interfering in Taiwan's affairs in any way or under any pretext," said the official representative of the PRC Ministry of Foreign Affairs Mao Nin.
