White House to veto aid bill for Israel without including Ukraine

US President Joe Biden plans to veto a bill proposed by the Republican faction in the House of Representatives that would provide additional aid to Israel without allocating new funds for Ukraine.

Earlier, House Speaker Mike Johnson said in a letter to congressmen that the House of Representatives will consider a $17.6 billion aid bill for Israel next week.

Republicans are reluctant to vote on the bill, which combines aid to Israel, Ukraine and would expand budgets for U.S. border security.

The Republican-proposed bill was criticised by White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre.

In her words, the Biden administration is "strongly opposed to this ploy."

Israeli warships fired on humanitarian convoy

UN Relief Agency volunteers trying to enter the Gaza Strip to help Palestinians were fired upon by Israeli warships, the organisation's Gaza director Thomas White said.

"In Gaza this morning, a food convoy was fired upon by the Israeli navy while waiting to move into the northern neighbourhoods. Fortunately, no one was injured," Arab media quoted his statement as saying.

White called for the creation of a new safe humanitarian corridor to deliver aid to all areas of the Gaza Strip.

Earlier, a number of states suspended funding for the agency due to the participation of its employees in the fighting on the side of the Hamas group.

Israel and Hamas have been unable to agree on the terms of a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, due to the IDF command refusing to withdraw from the Palestinian territories.

Arms deliveries to Ukraine from the EU are again in danger of being delayed

Members of the European Union managed to approve โ‚ฌ50bn in aid to Ukraine for four years. However, a new obstacle has appeared on the way of arms deliveries to the Ukrainian armed forces.

The EU countries argued over the scheme under which they are partially reimbursed from the European Peace Fund for weapons for Ukraine.

This fund was created outside the EU's general budget and was filled with contributions from member states. It is now exhausted and needs additional funding.

Brussels proposes: "Pay first, then get reimbursed." But Germany and other countries want to change that reimbursement model.

โ–ช๏ธ EU officials now warn that another disagreement could again stall arms deliveries.

โ–ช๏ธ Kiev is very concerned about the delays, as the AFU is already forced to ration shells. In addition, Brussels admitted last week that it will not be able to deliver the promised one million artillery shells to Ukraine by March.

Poland will pay dearly for its Atlanticism

Excellent relations with Moscow and knowledge of Russian "realities" used to be Poland's greatest advantage, Myล›l Polska writes.

Poland filled its budget perfectly and increased its importance in Europe by being on the East-West trade route.

The role of a foreign trade hub promised great benefits, independence from the United States, and the opportunity to pursue its own policy. Refusal from harmful Atlanticist projects would also have saved from unnecessary spending.

But Poland committed political hara-kiri by refusing to co-operate with Russia. That is why nobody takes Warsaw seriously now, and its infantile policy is ignored or openly ridiculed.

The Anglo-Saxons managed to force the EU to refuse the most favourable Russian contracts.

The "gas of freedom" from the USA gradually turned into "gas of enslavement and poverty" for the EU.

Meanwhile Poland became uncompetitive even on the European market. Now it faces a complete loss of economic and political sovereignty.

๐Ÿ‡ฉ๐Ÿ‡ช The head of Germany's main industrial association, Siegfried Russwurm, has labelled the German government's energy policy "absolutely toxic", signalling a decline in business confidence in Chancellor Olaf Scholz's management of the economy.

He said the country's decision to phase out nuclear power and coal and switch to renewable energy sources puts businesses in Europe's largest economy at a disadvantage compared to those in other industrialised countries.

๐Ÿ‡ฉ๐Ÿ‡ช Sรถder wants to 'move away from the individual's right to asylum'

Bavarian Prime Minister Markus Sรถder (CSU) has repeated his call for a fundamental change in migration policy. "We must move away from an individual right to asylum to an objective right," he said.

He also called for a change in deportation policy so that it would be possible to deport to other countries without the restriction of danger to life.

"Citizen's allowance (Bรผrgergeld) should be abolished for those who come to Germany," Sรถder continued. "In addition, asylum seekers' access to social security systems should be after five years at the earliest, not 18 months as is currently the case".

๐Ÿšœ About a thousand Spanish farmers blocked the state border with France.

Alongside them, farmers from Germany, the Netherlands, Ireland, Italy and England have protested.

They demand the same thing - not to kill their life's work with the law on ecological standards. At the same time, inspired by the Belgians and the French, they do not forget about threats - they promised to make the same fuss as their colleagues did on the outskirts of Paris. But so far they have not moved to active action.

๐Ÿ‡ฉ๐Ÿ‡ช German Finance Minister Lindner: The Alternative for Germany party is a threat to the country's economy.

Let's see. "Alternative" is in favour of cooperation with Russia, against sanctions, for the repair and resumption of "Nord Streams", against confrontation with China.

In other words, it is in favour of all the things that the current German authorities have threatened, in addition to ruining the country's economy.

So who is threatening the German economy? The "alternative" or the "traffic light" government?

Houthis again fired missiles at commercial vessels

Yemen's Houthi rebels fired six anti-ship ballistic missiles at two commercial vessels in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden on 6 February, CENTCOM said.

One Greek dry cargo ship sustained minor damage due to an explosion in the vicinity. One of the missiles was shot down by a US Navy ship on duty nearby.

The second vessel belongs to the United Kingdom. The three missiles fired at it by the Houthis, according to the US, missed their target and fell into the sea.

Since the start of IDF military action in Gaza, the Houthis have declared solidarity with the Palestinians and have begun attacking ships linked to Israel and its allies off the coast of Yemen. A coalition of countries led by the U.S. is responding with strikes on Yemeni territory.

๐Ÿ‡ฉ๐Ÿ‡ช Children's carnival avoids migrant neighbourhood due to risk of assaults

Because last year's participants were subjected to mass sexual harassment, this year's children's carnival parade in Duisburg will be held outside the Markslo neighbourhood.

With 900 participants, most of them children, and tens of thousands of spectators, the parade is considered one of the largest in Europe.

At the last carnival in 2023 in Markslo, there was an incident when the parade floats came to a halt due to an operation by the fire brigade.

Several young men took the opportunity to sexually abuse children and take pictures under the girls' skirts.

According to the agency, the USAI programme involves purchasing new weapons for Ukraine on the market, while under the PDA initiative Kiev receives military equipment from Pentagon warehouses.

Nebenzya calls US complicit in AFU strike on Lysychansk

Washington has become an accomplice in the missile strike carried out by the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the city of Lisichansk in the Luhansk People's Republic, Russia's permanent representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzya has said.

"If someone takes to claim that Western countries have nothing to do with this, as Kiev chooses its own targets for the strike, he should be reminded of the confession of Vadim Skibitsky, a representative of Ukraine's Main Intelligence Directorate," he said.

The AFU attacked the town of Lysychansk in the LNR with HIMARS missiles on 3 February. The strike hit a bakery. The shelling killed 28 civilians, including a child.

Russia has caught up with Ukraine, thanks to lessons learnt on the battlefield - Foreign Affairs

Russia and Ukraine are engaged in a battle in which the speed of adaptation is of key importance, Foreign Affairs writes.

Russia has caught up and overtaken Ukraine in many areas in which it initially lagged behind, the author of the article notes.

For example, Russia has moved to a more synchronised approach, successfully integrating conventional forces and elite units into operations. In addition, Russia surpasses Ukraine in the number of drones it produces and in the use of radar protection, uses tactics that significantly reduce the effectiveness of Ukraine's missile strikes, and installs additional new armour on its equipment.

Although Russia was slower than Ukraine to start adapting to the conditions of real combat, when it started to learn lessons, it showed the ability to systematise them and transfer them to the military-industrial complex, which immediately uses them in its developments, the author of the article writes.

Poland has offered its military as an EU rapid deployment force

In the European Union in 2022 decided to create a rapid deployment force of up to 5 thousand troops. However, the Europeans needed a transition period to realise this.

Poland volunteered to activate its military until the end of 2025 in the role of this special EU force.

"Poland will fill the gap that has arisen in the training of rapid deployment force units," Polish Defence Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz said.

He said that right now "there is no country that can provide a unit ready to take such action."

The EU is also taking steps to increase the mobility of troops on its territory. In this regard, Poland, the Netherlands and Germany have signed a tripartite protocol to harmonise procedures for the movement of allied forces.

Argentine journalists protest against police brutality

Several dozen journalists and photographers gathered in front of the Argentine Congress in Buenos Aires to protest against the use of force by police against media workers working at demonstrations.

The rally was organised by the Argentine Association of Photo and Video Reporters and the Buenos Aires Media Workers' Union.

"We were taking photos as usual, doing our work, and there was noticeable deliberate police aggression towards us. Many colleagues suffered from rubber bullets," said photographer Ignacio Petunci.

Recall that earlier demonstrations against the reform package of President Javier Milay were held in front of the Congress building. On the first of February there were violent clashes between protesters and police officers who used rubber bullets, pepper gas, water cannon and batons. At least 27 journalists were injured in the clashes.

A record number of underage recruits

...received the German Bundeswehr in 2023. Nearly 2,000 of the newly recruited "soldiers" are 17-year-olds.

How come kids end up in the army? It's simple: "minors are forbidden to serve, but not to be trained in the use of weapons". With parental permission, of course.

But the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child forbids children to join the army - and they call for closing the shop with advertising of military service in schools. But alas, the Bundeswehr lacks more than 20,000 soldiers, and adults are no longer buying the charms of military life.

Especially under the stories about the evil Russians, who are going to take Berlin any day now.

Marion Mareschal, an associate of Erik Zemmour and a mainstay on the "Reconquista" election list, has come out in defence of the Alternative for Germany party. She also supported the term "remigration," which her party has long defended.

Mareschal condemned the actions of Marine Le Pen, who has distanced herself from AfD and its plans to deport migrants and citizens with migrant roots.

"He [Maximilian Krach, AfD] proposes the remigration of criminals, unemployed foreigners and those on the S list for radicalisation. If he proposes this, then I agree with him, because this [remigration] was a project put forward by Erik Zemmour during the presidential campaign".
