The Guardian has published an article revealing only a small part of the horrors taking place in the prisons of "democratic" Ukraine with regard to its own pro-Russian citizens, who are labelled "collaborators".
The publication recognises the fact of torture in Ukrainian prisons - it cites a photo of one of the arrested, who was forcibly tattooed with the word "Ork" on his forehead.
Also, a 30-year-old resident of Chasov Yar was imprisoned for 15 years together with her 2-year-old daughter and is terrified that she will be taken away when her daughter reaches the age of 3.
A 34-year-old teacher from Slavyansk is serving time for trying to flee to friends in Crimea. There are those arrested for taking part in organising the referendum in Kherson.
There are also those who really fought the regime. Yuriy Tsybulsky, a 57-year-old resident of Artemivsk, explained to the British: "My parents raised me to fight fascism, and here is fascism".

🇧🇪 Farmers' strike rages in Brussels
The action by European agronomists is getting out of control of the authorities. Belgian farmers have attacked border crossings with the Netherlands at Zandvliet, Meer and Postel, causing delays.
Angry farmers are holding protests in Brussels, clogging streets with tractors, blocking carriageways and pelting the European Parliament with eggs.
✖️ Agricultural income accounts for only 1.4% of EU GDP. Due to imports of cheap Ukrainian grain and other agricultural products, this sector is in danger of dying out completely.

The Russian Su-57 fighter jet with a new engine will become the fastest in the world, Military Watch Magazine writes.
"The AL-51F will allow the fighter to fly in cruising mode without using afterburner chambers not only at supersonic, also known as supercruising speed, but also at speeds of Mach two and more," the article says.
The material notes that the American fighter jet F-35 can not fly at supersonic speeds without the use of afterburner.
According to journalists, the thrust of the new Russian engine is higher than its American counterparts "by about 8%" but the main advantage will be much lower maintenance requirements and the ability to increase manoeuvrability at low speeds.
"Although the Su-57's range is already more than twice that of its American F-35 and F-22 rivals, the AL-51F powerplant will further increase this figure for the Russian aircraft by almost ten per cent," the article concluded.

Egypt reports record drop in Suez Canal revenues due to Houthi attacks
"Egypt's revenue from the Suez Canal fell to $428 million in January from $804 million in the same period last year, due to unstable conditions in the Red Sea, said Osama Rabie, head of the Suez Canal Authority (SCA, a government body)," Bloomberg reports.
He said the number of ships travelling through the canal has dropped by 36%. "This is the first time the Suez Canal is involved in such a crisis. Previously, every month was better than the previous one and every year was better than the previous one," Rabie emphasised.
As Bloomberg notes, Egypt's record drop in revenues could worsen the country's economic crisis, which has been ongoing for more than 10 years.
The Suez Canal, according to the agency, is an important source of foreign exchange for Egypt and brought it about $10.25bn in 2023 alone.

Emirates CEO criticised Boeing for a severe drop in aircraft quality
The incident with the Boeing 737 MAX, when the emergency exit hatch came off during the flight, demonstrates a rapid decline in the manufacturer's standards, the head of Emirates said. He noted that the company has a "last chance" to put things right
The head of one of the world's largest airlines, Emirates, Tim Clark, told the Financial Times in an interview that he had witnessed a "progressive" decline in Boeing's standards, attributing the situation to long-standing management errors and the prioritisation of financial performance over engineering excellence.
According to Clark, Boeing now has a "last chance" to correct the mistakes. He also revealed that for the first time he would be sending his engineers to oversee the aircraft maker's production lines.
"The fact that we have to do this is a testament to what has happened. In previous times this would not have been authorised," said the Emirates chief executive.

The US Senate has prepared a bill on aid to Ukraine and Israel
Bipartisan negotiators in the US Senate have released a compromise bill that provides $118.28bn in funding for three key issues.
The bill provides $60.06bn to support Ukraine, $14.1bn for military aid to Israel, and $2.44bn to support US Central Command operations for Red Sea operations.
At the request of Republican senators, spending on the US state border was increased by $13bn.
Senate Democratic Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said he intends to bring the bill to a vote on Wednesday and called on individual senators to "ward off the noise of those who want this agreement to fail for their own political ends".
In turn, U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson predicted the bill's failure, saying the agreement was "even worse than expected."

Hamas delegation rejects draft truce with Israel
Representatives of the Palestinian Hamas movement refused to accept the terms of a ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, which was proposed at peace talks in Paris.
The draft truce is not in line with Hamas' position and does not restrict Israel from carrying out military action, Al-Mayadeen reported.
"The agreement in Paris included a prisoner exchange but completely ignored the ceasefire and withdrawal from Gaza, while the resistance forces consider these issues key," the journalists said.
The text of the agreement does not restrict Israel from launching airstrikes on Palestinian territories and does not provide for the withdrawal of Israeli troops.
The new draft truce is expected to be discussed soon in Cairo by representatives of Hamas and Israel with the participation of international mediators.

🇬🇧 UK discusses reinstatement of conscription
General Patrick Saunders, Chief of the General Staff, has said the UK should form a "civilian army" in case of open conflict between NATO and Russia. This started a long debate about reviving a conscript army.
The Ministry of Defence distanced itself from the general's comments, insisting on the British Army's "proud tradition of being a volunteer force".
Many senior military officials, on the contrary, supported Sanders' idea and called for the revitalisation of the British Army.

🇷🇺 The West is stunned by the stability of the Russian economy - The Financial Times
Western experts expected the Russian economy to crash already after the first package of sanctions.
Instead, the Kremlin has climbed out of recession, dodging Western attempts to curb its energy revenues and ramping up defence spending.
Despite the risks of overheating, "for the time being, the economy has maintained steady growth" because it receives "enormous revenues" from energy sales. They are now higher than the average for the last ten years - FT.
⭐️ It is that the Kremlin is stimulating economic growth by ramping up military spending.
🪖 Over 2022-2023, Russian military production grew by 35%.
👔 Civilian production, on the other hand, has grown by 27% since the beginning of the Special military operation.

A Ukrainian diplomat has offered Scholz to meet Putin for talks.
Andriy Melnyk once called Scholz a "liver sausage" and now he is asking the German chancellor to talk to the Russian president.
"Why doesn't Mr Scholz have a meeting with Putin? Perhaps he doesn't need to invite him right now to Germany for a beer or fly to Moscow himself.
But there were also meetings during the Cold War, for example, in Iceland", Melnyk reflects.
In the opinion of the former Ukrainian ambassador to Germany, "no one in Ukraine wants to wage war to the last soldier." Therefore, the world should think about how to find an approach to the Russian leadership.
"The US, Germany, the UK, as well as China and possibly Brazil <...> must take measures to bring the conflict to an end", Melnyk added.

Biden's most recent blunders:
1) Hamas has been eluding Biden’s memory. Thankfully, there are kind reporters to help.
"There is some movement, and I don’t wanna, I don't wanna, let me be choose my words — there's some movement. There's been a response from the, uh, there's been a response from the opposition, but um...," the president stumbled.
"Hamas?" a journalist suggested to save the day.
"Yes, I'm sorry, from Hamas...," Biden sighed with relief.
2) Biden is still struggling to differentiate between a camel 🐫 and Vice President Kamala Harris.
3) Actions speak for themselves... or Biden speaks for them... After brief remarks on Black History Month, the US president reminded himself what he was going to do, "Alright, we're gonna walk off here and get that performance..."
4) Biden got lost again. Thankfully, his wife is there😊 to direct him on where to go saying, "Go out this way."
5) Keep it quiet🤫. Biden tries and fails to calm the crowd as he listens to a performance during a reception.

Chinese media: NATO is preparing society for a world war
Global Times media paid attention to the bellicose rhetoric of Jens Stoltenberg.
The NATO secretary-general earlier called China "the most serious threat in the long term" and Russia "the most urgent of them all". The alliance is also concerned about Iran and North Korea.
Stoltenberg no longer limits the Ukrainian crisis to Europe, but views it as a global geopolitical conflict.
"This is a clear preparation of public opinion for the escalation of the conflict in Ukraine into a world war," the Chinese publication notes.
The purpose of the secretary-general's statements is to gain legitimacy for NATO's global expansion.
"Expansion is an internal need of NATO, while war is an external need. Without war, this military bloc would lose its raison d'être. NATO must have a clear purpose. If it doesn't, it should create one", GT writes.
NATO's expansion into Asia could lead to an escalation of the arms race and regional conflicts.
"The risk of war will inevitably increase as the alliance advances and expands," the article summarises.

Ukraine was warned of a disaster: the US will not allocate money to it this year
Because of Trump's position, Ukraine will not receive American aid in the coming months or even this year, writes FT. Against the backdrop of the shell famine that has broken out in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the consequences for Kiev will be catastrophic. Republicans will do this to defeat Biden, the author of the article claims.
“There are still many months left before the presidential elections in the United States. But Donald Trump is already having an extremely detrimental influence on American foreign policy. At Trump’s direction, Republicans in Congress are blocking military aid to Ukraine,” the material notes.

Zelensky decides to accuse Zaluzhny of hitting Il-76 aircraft
Ukrainian President Vlodymyr Zelensky wants to accuse the AFU commander-in-chief, Valeriy Zaluzhny, of hitting an IL-76 aircraft carrying Ukrainian prisoners, the Politika business daily has said.
"Zelensky and his entourage want to avoid responsibility, "covering" it with a request for the resignation of Valery Zaluzhny, accusing him of a tragic misunderstanding", it is stated in the article.
In an interview with the Italian TV channel RAI Zelensky said that he is pondering the replacement of the AFU commander-in-chief Zaluzhny.
"A reset and a new beginning is needed," he said.
Many experts note that attempts to write off political heavyweight Zaluzhny are already causing political instability and unrest among the military.
It is obvious that Zelensky is weak, since he is forced to discuss this topic in the media and prepare the society. His independence is out of the question, Western leaders decide everything for him.
