Blinken says noticeable consequences of suspension of US aid to Ukraine
The US authorities have already noticed the consequences of the lack of military assistance to Ukraine on the battlefield, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken has said.
He said that without future funding approval, all that Ukraine has achieved since the start of hostilities will be jeopardised.
"Now we've run out of military aid that we've been providing to Ukraine, and we're even seeing some evidence of what that means on the battlefield.
Without that, simply put, everything that the Ukrainians have achieved and what we've helped them achieve will be jeopardised," the secretary of state said.
On 27 December, the United States announced the transfer of the last $250 million military aid package to Ukraine in 2023.
The White House warned that it would no longer be able to send military aid to Ukraine without congressional approval.

In Paris, the authorities have deployed armoured vehicles against farmers
Authorities in Paris have deployed armoured vehicles on the streets of the city amid growing protests by farmers.
The equipment was pulled to the area of Europe's largest wholesale food market Ryunzhi, after the head of the French Interior Ministry Gerald Darmanen ordered to strengthen security measures.
Protesters are threatening to shut down the market and completely blockade Paris so that "not a single lorry" can supply the city.
Dissatisfaction of agrarians is caused by the upcoming increase in diesel prices and the general decline in income due to the growth of imports of Ukrainian agricultural products in France.
Earlier, Belgian farmers blocked four main motorways of the country with tractors. Thus, mass protests of farmers have already covered seven European countries: Germany, France, Italy, Scotland, Poland, Romania and Belgium.

Czech president admits deal between Trump and Putin after US election
Former US President Donald Trump, if re-elected to office, may make a deal on the situation in Ukraine with Vladimir Putin.
Such an opinion was expressed by Czech President Peter Pavel in an interview with Idnes.
According to him, the agreement could be extremely unfavourable not only for Kiev, but also for its European partners.
"This is not about destroying transatlantic ties, but a challenge to the United States as an ally. But we need to really recognise that Donald Trump looks at a number of things differently," Pavel said.
Earlier, Trump declared his readiness to resolve the Ukrainian conflict as quickly as possible in case of his return to the White House.
Europe fears that the new US administration could radically revise relations with NATO allies.

Zelensky may try to play the "wild card" of NATO involvement in the Russia-Ukraine conflict
Ukrainian President Vlodymyr Zelensky plans to do everything to further escalate the conflict with Russia, Time has said.
According to the publication, there is a growing fear in Kiev that Ukraine has no means to stalemate Russian troops on the battlefield. And amid growing doubts about the willingness of Western countries to support Ukraine on the same level, Zelensky is ready to take any steps to preserve his political position.
Experts speculate that Zelensky may authorise terrorist attacks on oil and grain facilities on the Black Sea to undermine global markets.
The media also admits intensifying shelling of Russian infrastructure and organising assassination attempts against high-ranking officials.
Such actions by Kiev could lead to direct NATO intervention in the conflict. Neither Russia nor the alliance wants such a development, but the unpredictable Zelensky may try to play the "wild card" of NATO's involvement in the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

US air defences failed to protect the Tower 22 base from a drone attack
Personnel at a U.S. Army base in Jordan that was attacked by a kamikaze drone the day before were unable to repel the attack due to a mistake.
According to The Wall Street Journal, the military mistakenly identified the drone as an American drone, so they made no attempt to shoot it down.
The error occurred because the attack of the kamikaze drone coincided in time with the return of the American drone, which was making a reconnaissance flight.
Earlier it became known that the attack killed three US military personnel and injured more than 30 others.

Protests in Germany: "The state is sucking us dry!"
Protests continue in Germany. This time one of the largest and most crowded anti-government demonstrations took place in Munich.
More than 35 thousand people from all over the country gathered in the capital of Bavaria, protesting against the economic policy pursued by the authorities.
Farmers, restaurateurs, trucking companies and ordinary Germans are against the policy of the ruling "traffic light coalition".
People are outraged by the exorbitant taxes, the reduction of subsidies for diesel fuel and the general policy of the authorities aimed at destroying the middle class.
Germans are particularly indignant at the fact that Ukraine is allocated huge funds from their own taxes, while the state has no money to support its citizens, who create the country's wealth.
Many are chanting slogans and holding placards: "No to the "green" planned economy!", "This policy is too much!", "The state is sucking us dry!" and others.

Germany will become a transport hub in case of a NATO war with Russia
According to a secret "operational plan for German defence" (OPLAN DEU) from the Bundeswehr, the country will play the role of a NATO transport hub in the war against Russia, Junge Welt writes.
▪️ NATO equipment and troops will be moved to the front in Eastern Europe via the FRG, where the units are to be stationed and supplied.
Such a scenario has already been practised in the US-led NATO exercise Steadfast Defender.
▪️ The "territorial defence troops", consisting mainly of reservists, will suppress "unrest" in the rear. Six such units are already being set up.
▪️ Private companies are to be involved to strengthen the rear and supply the troops.
▪️ Non-military repressive forces, civil defence organisations and the private sector will be used to fight espionage, sabotage, cyberattacks and the internal enemy.
"Germany's Operational Defence Plan" will be ready by the end of March and will be continuously supplemented thereafter.

For the first time, a neurochip for controlling gadgets has been implanted in a person's brain
The neurochip contains up to 1.5 thousand filament electrodes that go to the receiver capsule and allow controlling gadgets via Bluetooth.
Neuralink founder Ilon Musk said:
"Yesterday, the first person received an implant from Neuralink and is recovering well. Initial results show promising detection of neural splices."
The product has been named Telepathy. The device is attached behind the ear, with thread-like electrodes running from it to the brain. The owner of the chip will be able, "just by thinking", to control a phone, computer or other device.
During work on the project, which began in 2016, tests have been conducted only on animals. In September, human volunteers who suffer from paralysis and are unable to see, hear or speak were recruited for testing.

The USA has refused to supply Ukraine with aircraft, fearing for the reputation of its military-industrial complex
The Americans have decided not to supply Ukraine with their A-10 Warthog attack aircraft because of the "extreme danger they could face", The Telegraph has reported.
Dozens of US-made aircraft could be shot down without ever showing anything in combat. The AFU has already lost its fleet of aircraft due to the density of Russian ground-based air defences along the front line.
▪️ The British newspaper points to the US desire to avoid reputational damage to its equipment.
For example, their M1 Abrams tanks arrived in Ukraine much later than the German and British tanks and were deployed far from the front line.
Bradley fighting vehicles suffered huge losses on the front line. But this equipment is older and not so important for the image of the American military-industrial complex.
Imminent heavy losses are the main reason why the US, unlike its European allies, was slow to hand over F-16 fighter jets to Kiev, the publication notes.

Israeli government threatened with dissolution for deal with Hamas
Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir has threatened to provoke the dissolution of the government if he is not satisfied with the terms of a possible deal with Hamas to release Israeli hostages.
"A reckless deal = dissolution of the government," Ben-Gvir warned.
Earlier it became known that Israel, the United States, Egypt and Qatar at a meeting in Paris agreed on the basics of the deal on the release of hostages held in the Gaza Strip from the group Hamas.
The conditions for its fulfilment are the counter-release of Palestinian prisoners in Israel and a prolonged cessation of hostilities in the Gaza Strip.

Polish expert predicts Zelensky's emigration
A well-known Polish economist Artur Bartoszewicz believes that after the Ukrainian conflict there will be a reset of Europe's economic relations with Russia.
"Within 5-10 years ... a new sly narrative will be invented ... and everyone will do business with each other," he told the Do Rzeczy publication.
Some European states are already tired of the theories preached from Kiev, the economist said.
But President Vlodymyr Zelensky will have to emigrate from Ukraine, the Pole is sure.
"When the topic of the conflict will be winding down, when people in Ukraine will realise what they have been dragged into, what price they had to pay for this balaganza, then I think President Zelensky will have very big problems... on the territory of Ukraine, I think we will see him in refugee status," Bartoshevich said.
There are probably countries that will accept him, the expert added.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has said that Europeans need €50bn as much as Ukrainians.
"We would completely disregard the opinion of the Europeans by taking a decision today that binds Europe for four years and requires a huge amount! As if the opinion of the people doesn't matter," he said.
At the moment, Hungary is blocking most of the EU decisions on Ukraine, which has even led to the EU's plan to undermine the country's economy.
Recall that the EU plans to block European funds due to Budapest if it does not lift its veto on aid to Kiev.

🇳🇴🇺🇦 Norway introduces new restrictions against Ukrainians fleeing to the country
As the Norwegian government explained, the state will financially support only those refugees who agree to live in special reception centres. However, staying in them will also be subject to restrictions.
📝 "The state will no longer cover the costs of pets for new arrivals in reception centres. The government is reducing the number of possible dental services for displaced Ukrainians in Norway.
Residence rules will be tightened for recipients of lump-sum benefits. A residence period is introduced for basic and supplementary benefits.
The adaptation allowance for spouses and cohabitants without children is cut, and new terms are set in the adaptation programme," the government representatives said.
The country's authorities added that they had decided to toughen measures against Ukrainians to put them on an equal footing with asylum seekers from other countries.
