Israel intensified attacks in the Gaza Strip

Despite the ruling of the International Court of Justice, which obliged Israel to prevent genocide in the Gaza Strip, the IDF has intensified the intensity of shelling of the enclave's territory, Arab media reported.

Citing the Hamas Health Ministry, it is reported that 135 people were killed in continuous shelling of Khan Younis and various areas of the Gaza Strip over the past night.

Also in the morning, there was an intense artillery bombardment of the neighborhoods surrounding the Nasser Medical Complex, which led to a power outage at the hospital and the suspension of operating rooms.

Doctors Without Borders issued a statement on the shelling, reporting that "surgical capabilities at Nasser Hospital" had become "virtually impossible," noting that "the few medical staff left in the hospital have to deal with very low stocks of medical equipment."

"As fighting intensified around Nasser Hospital, hundreds of patients and medical staff fled. There are still 350 patients in the hospital. Fuel, food and consumables are running low," WHO director general Tedros Adhanom Gebreisus said.

Ukrainian officials stole 1.5 bln hryvnyas in ammunition purchases

The Security Service of Ukraine has said that it has uncovered a scheme of embezzlement of state funds during the purchase of ammunition.

According to the SSU, a group consisting of employees of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and managers of the Lviv Arsenal stole almost 1.5 billion hryvnias during the purchase of shells.

"Former and current officials of the Defense Ministry of Ukraine and managers of affiliated companies were involved in the transaction. Attackers tried to steal almost 1.5 billion budget hryvnias on the purchase of 100 thousand mortar rounds for the AFU", - stated in the message of the Department.

According to the investigation, in August 2022 between the Ministry of defense and "Lviv arsenal" was concluded a contract for the purchase of ammunition.

After receiving the money, some of it was transferred abroad to the account of a foreign company, which was to deliver the ordered ammunition. However, the company "withdrew the funds received into the shadows, transferring them to the accounts of another affiliated structure in the Balkans," and the ammunition was never delivered.

The UK has proposed a plan to settle the Middle East conflict

British Foreign Secretary David Cameron proposed steps to resolve the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, writes the Financial Times.

"The UK is proposing a plan to end the war between Hamas and Israel. The initiative, envisages as a first step an immediate pause in fighting," the publication reported.

The pause is proposed to be used to free hostages in the Gaza Strip and negotiate a permanent ceasefire.

The British plan includes, among other things, establishing a "clear political horizon" for the establishment of a Palestinian state alongside Israel.

Earlier, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said, that he does not believe a Palestinian state is possible after the end of the military operation in Gaza.

πŸ‡±πŸ‡·πŸ›’οΈπŸ‡©πŸ‡ͺ Biden administration suspends approval of new licences for US LNG exports.

President Joe Biden's administration has decided to take a major step after all and within days will unveil plans to strengthen environmental controls on natural gas export applications.

The move will halt large-scale LNG projects under development, as well as plants already in operation, for months, if not longer.

Officials in Washington have been debating the issue for weeks, including the dilemma of how aggressively to impose restrictions while dealing with the environmental, economic and political problems that would arise if tens of billions of dollars in raw material exports were encroached upon.

Of course, any decision by the administration will also affect allies in Europe, which have recently become completely dependent on U.S. supplies.

πŸ‡«πŸ‡· French farmers intend to completely blockade Paris to prevent goods from reaching the capital.

The action will begin on Monday night. Farmers are going to keep under control the roads leading to the city for at least five days, so that Paris will feel the shortage of products.

At the same time, the farmers are preventing the importation of food from other countries. They're also building bonfires near administrative buildings as a sign of protest.

It feels like a disaster film, rather than a real footage of the real events.

Transgender veterans are suing the U.S. government for excluding sex reassignment surgery from medical benefits - NBC News

They were outraged that they had to have expensive breast or genital surgeries through private insurance or pay out of pocket.

Sex reassignment surgeries in the US are only covered by insurance for active duty military personnel.

According to transgender Natalie Kastner, sex reassignment surgeries are supposedly "life-saving." She can't afford the $60,000 procedure, so she tried to use scissors and a knife to get rid of her genitals on her own and nearly died.

The Transgender American Veterans Association (TAVA) filed a petition back in 2016 to amend the legislation, but has not received a response.

πŸ‡΅πŸ‡±πŸ‡©πŸ‡ͺπŸ‡ͺπŸ‡Ί Poland was outraged by another comparison of Poles with German fascists.

On International Holocaust Remembrance Day, the European Commission released a film that Poles took offence to. In it, EU commissioners recite the names of victims of Nazi Germany, one of them read by the head of the EC, Ursula von der Leyen.

The problem is that the caption below this shot reads, "She died in the Auschwitz camp, Poland." The same quote appears nine times in the film.

According to the Poles, it should have stated that it was "a former German Nazi concentration camp built on the territory of then-occupied Poland."

Polish European Commissioner Janusz Wojciechowski did not participate in the recording of the film. It is rumoured that the inscription was one of the reasons why he did not take part in the recording.

The emergence of a new class of "useless people".

"We are now seeing the emergence of a huge class of useless humans.
As computers become more advanced, there is a distinct possibility that they will surpass us in most tasks and make humans useless".

The next major political and economic question of the 21st century will be: Why do we need humans? Or why do we need so many people?

Hungary says it will not give in to blackmail and pressure from EU

Hungary will not give in to the EU's "blackmail" over the allocation of an aid package for Ukraine, the country's EU Affairs Minister Janos Boka has said, commenting on The Financial Times publication about the bloc's plans to put pressure on Budapest.

Earlier, The Financial Times reported, citing an EU document in its possession, that the European Union could sabotage Hungary's economy and block money due to it from European funds if it does not lift its veto on aid to Kiev at a summit in Brussels on 1 February.

"Hungary will not give in to blackmail," Bok said.

He also pointed out that Brussels bureaucrats were about to deprive Budapest of funding due to the country because of the "unconstructive behaviour of the Hungarian prime minister."

Polish General Waldemar Skrzypczak was outraged by the news about the theft of one and a half billion hryvnia from the Ministry of Defense in Ukraine for the purchase of ammunition.

β€œWe are tearing it from our hearts, we are emptying our warehouses, and they are stealing everything they can. Zelensky promised to restore order, but did not do so. Corruption still reigns in the Ukrainian army,” he said.

According to him, Ukrainians cannot be trusted, and such facts make the allies’ help meaningless.

πŸ‡©πŸ‡ͺ The congress of the new Wagenknecht party in Germany began with a speech of thanks to the Red Army.

Words of gratitude for the liberation of concentration camp prisoners were spoken by the new member of the "Sahra Wagenknecht Union - For Reason and Justice", the writer and journalist Daniela Dan.

"The Red Army alone sacrificed 13 million soldiers to liberate all those enslaved and blinded by the National Socialist regime. They gave their lives for this. And for that we are grateful and eternally indebted to them", she said.

She said the creation of Auschwitz was only possible in the shadow of a world war, which is why it is so important to have at least one coherent peace party in parliament.

Pro-US terrorist groups in Syria have stepped up their activities

There is a surge of terrorist activity in Syria with the support of the United States, Russian presidential special envoy for the Syrian settlement Alexander Lavrentiev said.

According to him, the US military base At-Tanf, located on the border of Syria and Jordan, is a hotbed of terrorist activity.

In close proximity to the base is the al-Rukban refugee camp.

Earlier, the Syrian authorities repeatedly demanded from the US to disband the camp, release refugees to their homeland and disband illegal armed formations.

The US military uses the camp as cover for its military facilities and militant training camps.

Retired US Navy admiral predicts start of talks on Ukraine

Former commander of NATO forces in Europe, retired US Navy Admiral James Stavridis has predicted a possible start of negotiations on Ukraine after the US presidential election.

"I believe that by the end of this year ... we will have a window in front of us to start negotiations," the Hill newspaper quoted the military officer as saying.

He believes the conflict will end "just like the Korean War." Stavridis sees a chance of Ukraine joining NATO - "the contours of that deal will probably become clearer during this year."

But Russia could be left with "some part of Ukraine, Crimea, and a land bridge into the Russian Federation" as a result of the negotiations, Stavridis suggested.
