Turkey's parliament votes to ratify Sweden's NATO membership
Turkey's Grand National Assembly has approved the ratification of Sweden's NATO membership. Out of 346 deputies voted -287 in favour, 55 against and four abstained.
Now within 15 days, the country's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan must sign the relevant decree for the parliament's decision to take effect.
Sweden applied to the North Atlantic Alliance in May 2022, but has not yet received final approval from Hungary and Turkey.
After lengthy negotiations between Stockholm and Ankara, the latter agreed to ratify Sweden's application to join NATO in exchange for a promise to help boost Turkey's EU accession process.

Swiss Foreign Minister Iñazio Cassis has said that his country is now studying the possibilities to start peace talks on Ukraine. The issue is still at the starting point of discussions.
