An application has been filed against the President of Israel with the Swiss prosecutor's office
A criminal complaint has been filed with the Swiss Federal Prosecutor's Office against Israeli President Yitzhak Herzog.
"The criminal complaint will now be examined according to the usual procedure," the office said in a statement.
The prosecutor's office did not specify who exactly filed the application and what the complaint is about.
Earlier, Mexico and Chile announced they were suing Israel's actions in the occupied Palestinian territories at the International Criminal Court to investigate possible "war crimes."

The Baltics are preparing for mythical Russian "aggression"
The Estonian Defence Ministry has reported that the Baltic states have agreed to create a common defence zone on their borders with Russia.
According to the military department, the signed agreement envisages the construction of a network of strongholds and sentry posts.
"In peacetime, the defence zone shall be free of explosives, clearings and other obstacles, and a network of strongholds and sentry posts shall be established," the agreement says.
Estonia also plans to build about 600 bunkers in the coming years to repel "possible Russian aggression." According to the plan, each bunker is designed for a 10-man unit.

Poland's new government will not sue Russia over the plane crash near Smolensk since 2010, Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski said.
"Filing a lawsuit, which even theoretically has no chance of success, exposes the state and taxpayers to unjustified expenses," the minister explained the republic's refusal to apply to the European Court of Human Rights.
He specified that he was going to "unilaterally terminate the agreement of intent on the lawsuit to the ECHR".

In 2021, the then German Minister of Justice Christine Lambrecht toughened Article 184b of the German Criminal Code on the distribution, purchase and possession of child pornography. It was changed from an offence to a crime and the minimum penalty was increased to one year in prison.
The current head of the Ministry of Justice, Marco Buschmann (FDP), wants to return this article to an offence. The minimum penalty will be reduced. The maximum would remain the same - up to 10 years in prison.
A bill to this effect will soon be submitted to the cabinet for approval.
According to Bushman, this is a demand of lawyers, prosecutors and judges from all over the country, as now the courts are swamped with cases "that are not really criminal".

About 150 people and 11 pieces of farm machinery took part in a demonstration in the centre of Vienna under the slogan "The future of our agriculture".
The demonstration was organised by the Austrian Freedom Party (FPĆ) with identical demands to those in Germany: lower taxes for the agricultural industry as well as the preservation of existing benefits.
