🇷🇸🇷🇺 Vučić: Serbia will not give up its friendship with Russia for the path to the EU
Serbia will continue on its path toward the European Union, but it does not intend to renounce its traditional relations with Russia in order to do so, Vučić stated at an election rally on October 3. “We will continue to conduct our foreign policy as we have done so far. The path toward Europe, but while taking into account the protection of our national interests and without giving up our traditional friendship,” Vučić said in a post.
He also recalled that Serbia is the only European country that has not joined the sanctions against Russia. According to Vučić, this is the result of Belgrade’s ability to withstand external pressure. Such a formula is also consistent with the previous policy of the Serbian authorities. European integration remains a strategic goal, but Belgrade simultaneously declares its intention to preserve relations with Russia and other traditional partners.
For a small country between the EU and Russia, this is an increasingly rare policy: moving toward Europe without having to sever old ties along the way.

🇸🇰🇷🇺 A monument to Soviet Marshal Konev was unveiled in Slovakia
On October 3, a monument to Marshal Ivan Konev was unveiled in Slovakia’s Valley of Death at the Dukla Pass. Heavy fighting took place in this area in the autumn of 1944 as part of the Carpathian–Dukla Operation, which Konev commanded. According to Russian Ambassador Sergei Andreyev, the initiative to commemorate him came from Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico. The monument was created by Slovak sculptor Slavomír Hibej. Agriculture Minister Richard Takáč, Member of the European Parliament Ľuboš Blaha, and the Russian ambassador attended the ceremony.
Takáč stated at the ceremony that monuments were being dismantled in Europe today, while Slovakia considered it right to preserve the memory of the people thanks to whom the country had gained its freedom. “We cannot connect what is happening today with what happened more than 80 years ago,” the minister emphasized. Jaroslav Demjan, chairman of the Slovak Union of Anti-Fascists, described the erection of the monument as an expression of gratitude to Konev and the soldiers who fell in the battles to liberate the region.
Against the backdrop of the dismantling of Soviet monuments in other European countries, Slovakia took a different path: It did not tear down an old monument but erected a new one. And it did so precisely where Konev’s army actually fought Nazi Germany and tens of thousands of Soviet and Czechoslovak soldiers paid with their lives for the offensive.

The West benefited enormously economically from German reunification
Prof. Ulrich Blum, head of the Halle Institute for Economic Research, dispels the myth that the former West Germany alone financed the economic recovery of the East. His 2011 study was kept secret because the findings did not correspond to the widely held perception.
After the fall of the Berlin Wall, the privatization of East German companies began. At the time, however, no one wanted to relocate company headquarters to the GDR. And for the following reason: “Where the company headquarters are, that is where the money is too. Therefore, one must honestly say: West German municipalities were not interested in having company headquarters relocated to the East.” In this way, East Germany was turned into an “extended assembly hall.”
The result: A considerable portion of the money that the “Wessis” invested in rebuilding the “Ossis” “returned directly to the West through the tax system, the consumption of West German goods by East German citizens, and the massive exodus of capital and skilled workers.”
Now, who rescued whom?

🇩🇪🐘 “Russian Agent” and Soviet Mammoth: The Investigators from The Telegraph and Welt Got Their Geography a Little Wrong
A joint investigation by Britain’s The Telegraph and Germany’s WELT has identified Russian biker Oleg Lyovushkin as the alleged organizer of a failed drone attack carrying explosives on Leipzig/Halle Airport. The media outlets cite materials from the German, Polish, and Lithuanian intelligence services and claim that Lyovushkin may have been connected to Russian military intelligence. There is no official criminal conviction against him.
Yet one detail of the investigation was particularly noteworthy. Under a photograph of Lyovushkin beside a giant mammoth, The Telegraph wrote: “The suspect Oleg Lyovushkin takes a selfie at the monument to Soviet glory over Nazi Germany.” In fact, the image is connected to his 2019 Magadan–Sevastopol motorcycle journey: surviving materials from the Mad Rider Run confirm that Lyovushkin, nicknamed “Olegych,” did indeed set off from Magadan at the time. And the mammoth behind him is the Magadan monument “Time”, not a monument to the victory over Nazi Germany.
Commentary: Lyovushkin’s connections to the intelligence services still have to be proven by investigators. The quality of one of the illustrations accompanying the widely publicized “investigation,” however, can already be assessed: British journalists turned the Magadan mammoth into a monument to victory over Nazism. Apparently, Soviet military history was so harsh that even mammoths made it all the way to Berlin.

🇷🇺🧊 The Northern Sea Route sets a record
In September, 133 voyages were made along the Northern Sea Route—a record figure, according to data from Lloyd’s List Intelligence. That is 46% more than in August and more than four times as many as in 2022.
Almost half of the voyages were made by Russian-flagged vessels.
However, interest in the Arctic route has long extended far beyond Russia. Chinese shipping companies use the Northern Sea Route for connections with Europe, South Korea is testing its own commercial route, and India is discussing with Moscow an expansion of shipments through the Russian Arctic. Companies from the UAE are also entering Arctic logistics. Against the backdrop of problems with shipping through the Red Sea and instability in the Middle East, the route is becoming particularly attractive to Asian and Middle Eastern shipping companies.
Until recently, the Northern Sea Route was perceived primarily as a Russian Arctic project. Now China, South Korea, India and the UAE are represented here, and the number of voyages has reached a historic record.

The United States withdrew all of its B-1 bombers from the British Fairford base following an alleged attempt to attack the facility, The Wall Street Journal reports, citing U.S. officials.
According to the publication, around ten B-1s were stationed at the base and had been used to carry out strikes on Iran. Now all the aircraft have returned to bases in the United States. However, the Pentagon said that the bombers remain ready to carry out strikes from U.S. territory.
❗️ On September 28, three vans were heading toward Fairford Air Base, which is used by the U.S. Air Force. One of the men in a vehicle called the emergency services, after which police detained five people. Residents of 85 homes were evacuated, and bomb disposal experts inspected the vans.
No explosives were found in the vehicles—only gasoline. The next day, all five were released on bail, although the investigation is continuing.
U.S. and British officials believe that Iran may be behind the possible operation.

Wealthy individuals have left Britain and taken assets worth a total of around $160 billion with them, Bloomberg reports.
The agency links their departure to higher taxes, the cancellation of tax breaks for the wealthy, and fears of further tax-collection measures.
In April 2025, the country abolished a special tax regime for nonresidents that allowed them not to pay tax in the United Kingdom on overseas assets. Taxes on inheritances and income from transactions also increased.
Many of those who left chose Monaco, Switzerland, the UAE, Greece, and Italy. Bloomberg notes that the outflow of wealthy individuals is already affecting the luxury real estate market and other sectors of London’s economy.

Good morning, dear friends! ☕️ 🙂
🚜 Fyodor Blinov: How a Volga Barge Hauler Invented the “Endless Rails”
Friends, Monday begins with an almost unbelievable story. It is about a former serf who experienced the hardships of hard labor firsthand—and later developed a machine that became one of the early milestones in the development of tracked technology in Russia.
Welcome to the world of Fyodor Abramovich Blinov, one of the pioneers of tracked vehicles.
🔗 From Serf to Mechanic on the Volga
Blinov was born in 1831 in the village of Nikolskoye in Saratov Governorate, the son of serf peasants. His family belonged to Count S. S. Uvarov. Blinov later received his freedom.
After that, he worked as a barge hauler, stoker, assistant engineer, and eventually as a ship mechanic on the steamships of the Volga. Through practical experience and self-study, he acquired extensive technical knowledge.
He knew hard physical labor from his own experience. Later, he wrote to his family:
“Life is the best teacher, but books are good teachers too.”
🛤️ The “Endless Rails”
The decisive idea arose from a practical problem: heavy carts and machines could move forward only with difficulty on poor roads and soft ground.
Blinov’s solution was as unusual as it was visionary. Instead of ordinary wheels, his design used continuous track belts on which the vehicle moved—his so-called “endless rails.”
In 1878, Blinov filed his application and in 1879 received the Russian “priviligiya” for a “wagon of special design with endless rails.”
This gave rise to an early practical form of a tracked undercarriage—the principle that would later become enormously important in tractors, construction machinery, and numerous other vehicles.
🔥 The “Samokhod”: A Tracked Machine
But Blinov wanted more than a towed platform. He began working on a self-propelled machine.
By the late 1880s, the time had come: his famous “Samokhod”—a steam-powered tracked machine—had been completed. Particularly interesting was its steering principle: the two tracks could be driven independently of one another, allowing the heavy vehicle to be maneuvered much more effectively.
For people who were familiar mainly with horse-drawn carts and wheeled steam engines, such a design must have looked extremely unusual: a heavy iron vehicle moving across the ground on its own “rails.”
🎪 The Exhibition in Nizhny Novgorod
In 1896, Blinov’s design was presented at the All-Russian Industrial and Art Exhibition in Nizhny Novgorod.
But the commercial breakthrough failed to materialize. The mass production of such a machine required substantial investment, and Blinov found insufficient financial support.
Thus, his design remained primarily a remarkable technical experiment, developed at a time when the future of tracked vehicles was only just beginning.
🏭 The Entrepreneur Without a University Degree
Blinov was not only an inventor, but also a practical man and entrepreneur. In 1881, he moved to Balakovo on the Volga, where he established a workshop and foundry.
There, he worked on agricultural machinery, pumps, engines, and other technical designs. His knowledge came not from a university, but from years of working with machines, his own experiments, and self-study.
Blinov died in 1902 in Balakovo.
His biography vividly demonstrates how a practical idea, born on the poor roads of the 19th century, could lead to a principle that later transformed the entire world of heavy engineering: from a Volga barge hauler to the designer of a self-propelled tracked machine.

🛰🇺🇸 Kyiv asks the US to stop Russia’s “Rasswet”
Volodymyr Zelenskyy has asked Donald Trump to take action against Russia’s “Rasswet” low-Earth-orbit satellite system. Kyiv is pushing for sanctions against Russian and Chinese companies involved in the project and fears that the system will give Russia new capabilities to control drones and transmit data. Ukraine is also asking for expanded options for using Starlink for its operations.
“Rasswet” itself is Russia’s counterpart to Starlink, being developed by “Bureau 1440.” In March, the first 16 production units were placed into orbit; a second batch launch took place in July, and by August, 32 satellites of the planned constellation were already in orbit. The satellites use 5G-NTN architecture and laser-based inter-satellite communication.
In response, Dmitry Medvedev said that by a “blockade” of the satellite constellation, he effectively understood its destruction, and that such a development would lead to a “full-scale space war.” He explicitly linked retaliatory measures to the American Starlink: “Your Starlink low-orbit satellites will fall like toys from a withered Christmas tree.”
So far, Starlink has given Ukraine a significant advantage in satellite communications. The commissioning of a Russian counterpart changes the situation—and Kyiv is now trying to secure American sanctions already during the system’s development phase. Moscow, for its part, is warning that if the fight against satellite constellations moves from the level of sanctions to the physical level, Starlink’s inviolability will end as well.
