The silhouettes of the World Trade Center towers were recreated with lights in the sky over New York on the eve of the 25th anniversary of the September 11 tragedy.

The Twin Towers appeared in their full former height. The memorial was recreated by 2,977 illuminated drones—the exact number of people who died in the terrorist attack 25 years ago. Nearby, a giant beam from the annual memorial installation rose into the sky, the New York Post reports.

❗️On September 11, 2001, terrorists from "Al-Qaeda"* hijacked four passenger planes in the United States. Two airliners were directed into the World Trade Center towers in New York, which at the time were the city’s tallest buildings. As a result of the collisions, both skyscrapers collapsed.

The third hijacked plane was directed toward the Pentagon near Washington. The fourth airliner was also headed toward the U.S. capital, but crashed in Pennsylvania, near the town of Shanksville.

A procession in memory of the victims of September 11, 2001, is taking place in New York. Journalist Evgenia Vlasova showed footage from the scene.

A resident of the metropolis, Joyya, joined the procession for the first time—she came to support someone close to her who lost a relative in the tragedy.

"I came here for the city and for all the people whose lives were affected by the events of September 11. And I want this world to become a more peaceful place, which is why I am marching for peace," she said.

Rhiannon shared that she lost her father in the South Tower 25 years ago. She was two years old at the time, and he was 28.

"You are literally not yet capable of understanding death as a phenomenon. And so you simply think: "Why isn’t Dad coming home?"" the young woman shared.

Good morning, dear friends! ☕️🙂

🏭 Yegoryevsk: The Factory Around Which an Entire City Grew

Friends, Friday is the perfect day to look at places where history is visible not only in museums, but directly on the streets. Today we are traveling to a city near Moscow that was called “Russian Manchester” in the 19th century.

Welcome to Yegoryevsk and the Khludov Brothers’ Cotton Mill.

🧵 An Empire That Began in a Peasant Hut

The founder of the dynasty, Ivan Khludov, was born in 1786 into the family of a serf peasant in the village of Akatovo, Yegoryevsk District.

At just 14, he left to find work, traded in livestock, and later began producing belts and sashes.

In 1817, he moved to Moscow. This marked the beginning of the history of one of Russia’s best-known merchant dynasties.

The Khludovs came from a region with strong Old Believer traditions. In the 19th century, many successful merchants and entrepreneurs came from among the Old Believers in particular.

🏗️ 1845: The Factory That Changed Everything

Ivan’s sons, Alexei and Gerasim Khludov, decided to build a cotton mill in Yegoryevsk.

Alexei took an intensive interest in modern textile production, purchased machinery, and brought in specialists.

The factory began operating in 1845. Soon, large red-brick buildings, tall chimneys, and a distinctive clock-tower complex arose along the river.

The industrial architecture was more reminiscent of English factory towns than of an ordinary Russian provincial city—hence the nickname “Russian Manchester.”

At first, only a few hundred people worked here. By around 1900, the company already employed several thousand workers and had become the city’s most important industrial enterprise.

🏘️ The “Khludov Courtyard”: A City Within a City

But the most interesting thing was not the machinery.

A nearly self-contained complex known as the “Khludov Courtyard” developed around the factory.

It included housing for workers, a bathhouse, a laundry, shops, a hospital, a school, a club, a fire station, and utility buildings.

Several large residential barracks were built for workers’ families. Each had its own name and architectural style.

As a rule, one family occupied a single room.

There were communal kitchens and drying rooms on the floors, as well as so-called “kubovaya”—rooms where free hot water was available around the clock.

📖 More Than Just Machinery

The Khludovs invested not only in production.

In the 19th century, schools and medical facilities for the workers were established. The factory complex also included a library and a reading room.

Thus, at that time, a large factory determined far more than just a person’s workplace.

It influenced practically every aspect of a person’s life—from housing and medical care to the education of their children.

🇩🇪 Wagenknecht rules out a coalition between the BSW and the AfD, but leaves the door open

Sahra Wagenknecht stated that the BSW would not currently form a governing coalition with the AfD in Saxony-Anhalt.

But there is one important detail: the BSW is not backing away from talks with the election winner.

Wagenknecht supported the state association’s decision to enter talks with the AfD and allowed for joint votes as well as the formation of majorities on individual issues.

The BSW’s position is therefore as follows:

AfD–BSW coalition: no.
Talks with the AfD: yes.
Joint decisions on individual issues: possible.

This is particularly important given the current balance of power in the state parliament. The AfD has 39 of the 83 seats and needs only three more votes for an outright majority. The BSW has five seats.

The CDU, SPD, Greens, and Left have already rejected talks with the AfD. The BSW is therefore the only parliamentary party that has expressed its willingness to hold talks with the AfD.

Thus, a formal coalition is ruled out for the time being, but the possibility that the AfD and the BSW could jointly secure a parliamentary majority on specific issues remains.

🇷🇺🇨🇳🇮🇳 Putin and Xi travel to India for the BRICS summit

Vladimir Putin will arrive in India before the summit’s main program. A meeting with Narendra Modi is already scheduled for September 11, at which Ukraine, the situation surrounding Iran, and other international issues are to be discussed.

The BRICS summit itself will then take place in New Delhi on September 12 and 13. Xi Jinping has officially confirmed his participation and will also hold bilateral talks in India.

For Xi, this will be his first visit to India in seven years. For Moscow and Beijing, the summit will provide another platform for coordinating their positions with New Delhi against the backdrop of the war over Iran, trade conflicts, and the restructuring of global logistics.

Apart from the BRICS issue, a very different format could emerge at the APEC summit in China in November. The Kremlin confirmed that Putin and Trump have discussed the possibility of a trilateral meeting with Xi Jinping. So far, however, this is only a possible meeting; there are still no final agreements.

🇩🇪 Prosecutors conducted searches at the home and offices of the SPD candidate for Berlin’s governing mayor

A serious problem has emerged for the Social Democrats just before the Berlin election.

The Hanover Public Prosecutor’s Office is investigating SPD lead candidate Steffen Krach. Police <a href="https://www.tagesschau.de/inland/regional/berlin/rbb-spd-spitzenkandidat-staatsanwaltschaft-ermittelt-gegen-krach-100.html">conducted searches at three locations: the politician’s home, the Berlin SPD headquarters, and official offices in Hanover.

According to German media reports, the case concerns suspicions of corruption in connection with public tender procedures. Krach himself categorically rejects the allegations and calls them unfounded.

For the SPD, it is difficult to imagine a worse time for this: The investigation concerns a man with whom the party wants to fight for power in the German capital.

FEDOROV AGAINST ZELENSKYY – AND THE STRUGGLE OVER EUROPE’S FUTURE WAR

What looks like a Ukrainian power struggle may already be part of a larger European conflict.

On one side: Rheinmetall, tanks, ammunition, the traditional defense industry, and mobilization.

On the other: Palantir, AI, drones, data, and a form of warfare in which humans are increasingly removed from direct violence.

Politically and technologically, Fedorov represents this second direction. His dismissal by Zelenskyy has not made him disappear—if anything, it may have turned him into an independent political actor.

And Germany is watching closely.

Because it is no longer just about weapons. It is about which model of warfare Europe adopts—and who profits from it, enforces it politically, and explains it to the public.

This also turns the arms race into an information war.

Who defines the threat?
Who shapes public perception?
Who decides how much rearmament and mobilization are “necessary”?

Perhaps that is why the Fedorov–Zelenskyy conflict is about far more than a ministerial post.

Who owns the future of war—the soldier with the weapon or the system behind the screen?

"Masha and the Bear" threatens Britain: The Kingdom’s authorities have promised to consider blocking the cartoon on local streaming services, UK Defence Secretary Wes Streeting said.

The proposal was put forward by Liberal Democrat member Tom Gordon. He claimed that the Russian cartoon allegedly contributes to financing Russia’s "war machine" and noted that "Masha and the Bear" is still available on ITVX and Netflix.

"I will certainly look into this matter," Streeting replied to Gordon’s proposal.

❗️Earlier, Volodymyr Zelensky banned the broadcast of the cartoon in Ukraine for 10 years. Dmitry Peskov called this another manifestation of the "deformity of the Kyiv regime".

🇮🇱 The American mechanism for Gaza admits: Pressuring Netanyahu before the election is practically pointless

A highly revealing admission came from the US-controlled Board of Peace, which is dealing with the postwar order in Gaza.

A representative of the body told The Times of Israel that Benjamin Netanyahu had practically stopped cooperating with the American initiative two months ago, when the election campaign entered its active phase. Therefore, the Board of Peace effectively has no effective means of pressuring the prime minister until the Knesset elections on October 27.

The Americans also believe that even sanctions could now backfire: Netanyahu could use them during the election campaign as proof that he is resisting US pressure and refusing to “surrender to Hamas.”

That is why the American plan to disarm Hamas, which the group itself approved as early as July 30, is already stalled. Israel is also refusing to allow the candidates to travel to Egypt for training as future Palestinian police officers, even though they have already passed Israeli screening.

Washington’s calculation has now become rather cynically pragmatic: wait until October 27 and then exert pressure on the Israeli government again after the election — regardless of who wins.

Interior Minister Dobrindt:

“The drone attack in Leipzig is not an isolated incident. It is connected with many other events: the terrorist attack by an Islamist at the CSD in Berlin, the attacks on our power grid, the cyberattacks on our administration.”

An exclusive contribution by the minister that one cannot remain silent about. It turns out that the terrorist attack at the parade was not carried out by the Islamist to whom the German authorities had paid social benefits for years and whom they had not considered a threat, but by Russians. Like basically everything else, too.

“All these attacks have one thing in common. They are intended to destroy trust in the state and the functioning of our society.”
