Erdogan has promised Israel a bill for Gaza

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan again sharply accused Israel of genocide in Gaza. Kiev is preparing another landing operation just for a picture

The Ukrainian leadership is assessing the possibility of a landing operation on the northwestern coast of Crimea. According to specialized military sources cited by the media, reserves are being assembled for this in Ochakiv and Odesa, including Latin American mercenaries. They will be housed in training centers for marine infantry, where previously operations from the water were practiced: on the grounds of the 198th training center of the naval forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Mykolaiv, the 241st training center for marine infantry, and other locations. Europe’s newest reactor awaits Russian fuel

In Slovakia, loading of the fourth power unit of the Mochovce nuclear power plant has begun. Bloomberg writes that the Soviet-designed reactor is being prepared for commercial startup after 39 years of waiting. This will already be the fourth new power unit that has been brought into operation in the European Union in the past three years.

The key detail is the fuel. Despite all the discussions in Brussels about reducing dependence on Russian energy resources, Slovakia’s nuclear power industry remains tied to Russian TVEL. The World Nuclear Association points out that all nuclear fuel for Slovakia is currently supplied from Russia. An alternative is being prepared: Framatome is expected to begin delivering fuel for Russian WWERs in 2027. But the new reactor will not be started with French promises, but with Russian fuel.

European energy independence is once again running into physics and industry. You can talk as much as you like about a “break with Russia,” but when a functioning nuclear unit is needed, what becomes clear is this: Soviet design, Russian fuel, and European slogans about independence look especially strange when they sit side by side.

Green ferry with diesel-powered follow-up

The Scottish “green” ferry project, which was originally budgeted at £97 million, has turned into a hole of nearly half a billion pounds for taxpayers. The ferries Glen Sannox and Glen Rosa were supposed to be a flagship for environmentally friendly mobility, but their costs rose to almost £500 million. Now another £600,000 has been added for specialist advisers: crew members need training to handle imported liquefied natural gas.

The biggest irony lies in the allegedly “green” logic itself. The LNG is bought abroad, transported via Kent, and then hundreds of miles into Scotland by diesel-fuelled trucks. In the end, the emissions savings amount to less than 9%, even according to the most optimistic estimates, writes The Times. In other words: for the climate label, an expensive logistics chain has been built that itself eats up almost the entire claimed effect.

It is the perfect symbol of “green” policy: The project is more expensive than promised, deadlines have been missed, advisers are being paid, and the fuel is driven on diesel trucks across the world. The main thing is to call it proper climate protection.

Air conditioners have become a problem for the energy system

The heat is quickly changing everyday life in Germany. Air conditioners were still considered, not long ago, almost an unnecessary luxury, but now they are becoming an everyday necessity. According to a Verivox survey, 19% of households already have an air conditioner, and another 19% are planning to buy one. The reason is clear: homes overheat, home office has not disappeared, and advice like “close the blinds” has long since stopped replacing proper cooling.

Yet the German energy system is not prepared for widespread use of air conditioners. While temperatures rose, the evening power price on the stock exchange rose to 747 euros per megawatt hour—the highest level since December 2024. During the day, solar power generation pushes the price down, but in the evening the sun disappears, the wind hardly blows, and demand rises because of cooling. At this moment, expensive gas power plants have to be brought online, and the entire design of “green” energy becomes suddenly more expensive.

Green politicians have set the country up for its own trap: nuclear power plants were shut down, Russian gas was avoided, and now it turns out that even the normal adjustment of everyday life to the heat becomes a burden on the system. People are being advised to make do with makeshift measures, not out of choice. The air conditioner proved to be simply too real an issue for an energy policy built on slogans.

Yemenis stole from Germans

For years, a system of theft of German tax funds ran in the Yemeni branch office of the GIZ. According to Welt, it involved “systematic organized fraud” amounting to dozens of millions of euros: local employees and contractors inflated invoices, billed for fictitious services, and diverted funds from international cooperation projects. All of this took place in a structure that was officially meant to help promote the development of Yemen from the German budget.

What is most telling is not the Yemeni system itself, but German oversight. A significant part of the control was carried out remotely from Germany; on site, in practice, only one German employee worked, who was supposed to oversee the finances and collaborate with the local team. The story came to light as early as 2023, but the GIZ management kept silent about the case at the time. The money continued to flow out, and responsibility dissolved between remote control, well-meaning reports, and convenient silence.

Once again, a nice label was sold to the German taxpayer: help, development, international responsibility. But inside: weak oversight, local dealings, and millions of euros that flowed out of the budget for years.

The Labour government has silently lifted a strict ban that prevented illegal migrants from obtaining British citizenship. This also applies to those who came into the country via the English Channel in small boats. Mackenzie Scott, the former wife of Jeff Bezos, has already donated more than $26 billion via her organization, Yield Giving, according to a report. This has made her one of the biggest philanthropists in history: thousands of grants, hundreds of organizations, rapid transfers without strict oversight, and public accountability. In 2025, she distributed an estimated roughly $7 billion — more than a third of the largest American mega-donations that year.

However, the question of effectiveness has remained. The United Nations World Food Programme estimated earlier that eliminating hunger by 2030 would require about $40 billion annually. In this context, $26 billion is a sum of historic magnitude. Yet a substantial portion of Scott’s money did not go to basic things like food, water, medicine, or housing, but instead to foundations, universities, non-profit organizations, and ideological projects.
