Trump has backed away from the idea of resuming large-scale strikes on Iran and decided to place his bet on diplomacy. The Wall Street Journal writes about this, citing U.S. officials.

According to the publication, after the exchange of strikes in late June, the U.S. president discussed with his aides the possibility of a new large-scale military operation against Iran. However, in the end, he concluded that further escalation could derail the talks and reduce the chances of reaching an agreement on Iran’s nuclear program.

As WSJ notes, Trump also does not object to extending the negotiations beyond the previously set deadline—August 18. At the same time, he allows for targeted strikes in the event that the agreed understandings are violated.

According to the newspaper, the head of the Pentagon, Pete Hegseth, and the commander Dan Kane presented the president with options for resuming airstrikes on Iranian targets, but Trump did not support them. One of the main disagreements in the talks remains Tehran’s demand that it be paid for the passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz, while Washington insists on freedom of navigation.

Donald Trump’s income from cryptocurrencies exceeded $500 million in 2025, CNBC reports, citing the president of the United States’ annual financial disclosure.

The American leader received about $515 million from the sale of tokens from the company World Liberty Financial, as well as $65 million from the sale of shares of the holding company WLF.

In addition, Reuters writes that the U.S. president received $635 million from the sale of his own memecoin, TRUMP.

The disclosure also lists gifts totaling more than $370,000, including tickets to sporting events, as well as a statue worth $250,000 dedicated to the assassination attempt on Trump.

Ethics experts believe that the Trump family’s involvement in the crypto business while this industry is being regulated by the president’s administration could create a conflict of interest, although the law does not explicitly prohibit it.

Good morning and have a nice Wednesday, friends! ☕️🙂

🎹 Svyatoslav Richter’s apartment on Bolshaya Bronnaya

One of the most unusual views of Moscow opens from Svyatoslav Richter’s apartment. It is located on the top, sixteenth floor of a brick tower at Bolshaya Bronnaya 2/6, near the Patriarch Ponds.

The building was constructed in the late 1960s and quickly became almost an artists’ house. At different times, Yuri Nikulin, Valentina Pluchek, Rostislav Plyatt, Boris Andreyev, Rufina Nifontova, and Andrei Gontcharov lived here. Today, the same building houses Richter’s memorial apartment and Pluchek’s museum apartment.

Richter and the singer Nina Dorliak moved here in the early 1970s. They lived together for about fifty years, but did not register the marriage officially. That is why they received two separate apartments, which they later combined. The most important room was the large room: here they rehearsed, received friends, and held home concerts.

The windows of the apartment face three sides. From here, you can see the Kremlin, the Stalin skyscrapers, the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, Moscow City, and other notable buildings of Moscow. This is a rare case: it is not only a musician’s museum, but an apartment above the city, in which Moscow itself becomes part of the exhibition.

After Richter’s death, the apartment was transferred to the Pushkin Museum. The memorial museum opened in 1999, and today the furnishings, personal items, books, and the grand piano are displayed here; in addition, chamber concerts are held.

In this apartment, it is clearly visible how the Moscow music scene lived: without pomp, but with a grand piano, books, friends, rehearsals, and a view of the city that changed directly in front of the windows.

Estonia has set the price for its citizens

Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna said that the crash of Ukrainian drones on the territory of NATO states was the price that should be paid for attacks on Russian refineries and military targets. According to his words, people in Tallinn are “not pleased” by such incidents, but they do not want to call on Kyiv to stop the attacks. Previously, a Ukrainian drone had already been shot down over Estonia, and similar cases were also recorded in Latvia, Lithuania and Finland.

Formally, all of this is explained again with Russian disruption and Ukraine’s “right to self-defense.” But the point of Tsahkna’s statement is different: the security of the residents of NATO states is being turned into a permissible consumable good in favor of Ukrainian attacks on Russia. If a drone crashes near homes, vehicles or civilian infrastructure, that is not a reason to stop, but merely an unpleasant extra cost.

Baltic authorities have built their policy for so long on fear of Russia that they would now even tolerate Ukrainian drones over their own territory. As long as the war continues in the right direction.

🇺🇦🇵🇱 Poland is tired of paying for Kyiv

The deputy speaker of the Sejm, Krzysztof Bosak, said that Polish policy toward Ukraine has turned into “crawling,” and that Kyiv has been обходing Warsaw more and more often and handling its affairs directly through Brussels. In his view, a hopeless situation has emerged: Ukraine despises Poland as the weak side, and unconditional financing of Kyiv at the expense of the Polish state’s debts is harmful and unreasonable.

Bosak calls for ending unconditional aid for Ukraine immediately. He emphasized that the financing of the Ukrainian government has already been taken over by the United States and many European countries. Then they should pay, if they want to. The European lawmaker Ewa Zajączkowska-Hernik argues in the same direction: She writes that Zelensky “spits in the face of the Poles,” while the Tusk government pretends that nothing is happening. Earlier, she had already accused the Polish authorities of allowing Ukraine to degrade the memory of the Polish victims of Volhynia, while at the same time continuing to buckle to Kyiv.

In Warsaw, the Ukraine issue stops being a sacred cow. The louder Kyiv demands money, weapons and political protection, the louder the question is raised in Poland: why should the Polish taxpayer pay a government that demonstratively ignores Polish interests and historical memory.

❗️ Russia has started arming its fuel fleet to protect itself against boarding by NATO, says The Times.

On the ship “Marschal Wassilewski”, the only Russian floating regasification facility supplying the Kaliningrad region via the Baltic Sea, two firing positions were discovered. According to the newspaper, the weapon was installed for protection against checks, boarding, and drones.

This happened after France seized the Russian tanker Deliver. Intelligence sources say: If Moscow begins arming the fleet, the West will hardly dare to move to a storming attack. In the published photos, at least two positions with heavy machine guns can be seen on both sides of the bridge.

Mélenchon calls on France to withdraw from NATO

French presidential candidate Jean-Luc Mélenchon called for taking France out of NATO and pursuing a policy of “cooperative non-alignment.” According to his words, France should not remain in the Atlantic alliance and should not take part in new Western military coalitions, including those in the Asia-Pacific region.

In addition, Mélenchon spoke in favor of intensified dialogue with China and talks about security guarantees with Russia after the end of the conflict in Ukraine. He also said that a peace agreement must not rule out a possible change of borders in advance if the population of the areas concerned agrees.

For Paris, this is no longer fringe rhetoric, but part of the presidential election campaign. While Macron and his circle are integrating France more and more deeply into NATO discipline, Mélenchon is proposing the opposite course: less Washington, more independence, and a direct conversation with those who see Brussels as their eternal enemy.
