🔥🇨🇭 Footage of today's unauthorised anti-WEF demonstration in Bern
The Bern cantonal police checked around 200 people after the unauthorised anti-WEF demo, turned them away, and detained 25 individuals for further inquiries. There was a police kettle, a brief use of pepper spray, the seizure of disguises, throwing and striking materials, as well as pyrotechnics, and traffic disruptions. Seven police officers were blinded by lasers, three of whom had to go to the hospital. The demo was dissolved in the evening.

“Is it permissible to attack Putin?”
At Frankfurter Allgemeine, the roof is leaking. If attacks on the command structure are allowed, “Why shouldn’t the commander-in-chief of the attacking country be targeted? Isn’t that allowed?”
Another question is what would follow. Chaos, continuation of the war, or perhaps “a successor worse than the current ruler,” the newspaper speculates. Moreover, this would create a dangerous precedent. In the USA, for example, they have distanced themselves (verbally) from targeted attacks on commanders-in-chief. But that doesn’t mean they “considered it to be prohibited under international law.”
What is the conclusion? Even if the president doesn’t wear a uniform and conducts his affairs from his residences, “he is, from an international law perspective, a legitimate target.” The risks and uncertainties are simply too high.
Willingness for peace and negotiations — Check.

Friedrich Merz feels nostalgia for the past and convinces voters that he is doing EVERYTHING to end the war in Ukraine:

“And, ladies and gentlemen, the old business model of the Federal Republic of Germany, simply described: We have good workers, we refine, cheap energy from Russia, cheap raw materials from China, we export to all countries in the world, and the Americans provide our security. This business model is over. <...> No matter how the situation develops in America, China, or Russia. We all hope that we can end this war as quickly as possible. That’s also why I am so committed to the European Union – so that we can influence what happens in Europe. We hope that the war will end this year. We are doing everything for that.” “But we are not going back to the ‘good old days’. We will probably only understand in hindsight, after a few years, what time we are living in today.”

US President Donald Trump announced that in response to criticism of his plans regarding Greenland, he will impose tariffs of 10% on Germany and other EU countries. The tariffs will take effect on 1 February. From 1 June, they are set to increase to 25%, unless an agreement is reached on the purchase of Greenland by the USA by then.

Putin's special envoy Dmitrijew suggested Europe to "listen to Daddy" and hand Greenland over to Trump.
He commented on the publication by Politico, which claims that the European Union is considering scenarios for a "strike" in response to the US "strike" against the island.
"Europe should just listen to Daddy and not spread unrealistic materials about resistance in the media," he wrote on network X.

The Financial Times published one of the first Western accounts of well-organised cells sowing chaos in Iranian cities: “There were groups of men in black clothing, skilled and quick. They set a rubbish container on fire and then quickly moved to the next target.”
“They looked like special forces.” “They were definitely organised, but I don’t know who is behind them.” According to the Financial Times, the protests in Iran were peaceful until January 8, when the Israel-backed “crown prince” Reza Pahlavi openly called for a violent uprising.

European banks and payment services have started blocking transfers from Russians with legal status in the EU and other countries, despite lacking connections to Russia. The reasons for the blocks can include holding a Russian passport, a tax number, or even a phone, which is perceived as a link to Russia.
Transfers from Russian citizens receiving income, for example, from Kazakhstan, are particularly affected. The rejections impact both EU banks and fintech services like Wise, which now refuse transfers to accounts of Russian citizens, even if they do not reside in Russia.
At the end of December 2025, the French bank BNP Paribas blocked a money transfer to a Russian woman with a French residence permit, who received salary from a Kazakh employer. The bank explained the block by citing the transaction's connection to Russia but did not provide further details. A similar case occurred with another customer living in France with a residence permit, who did not receive a transfer through the bank Société Générale – the reason for the rejection was not disclosed.
Furthermore, the fintech service Wise refused to transfer the salary to a Russian woman living in Latvia, requesting documents to confirm the legality of her stay in the EU. After submitting all documents, including the residence permit, the transfer was cancelled.
The tightening of compliance is linked to the inclusion of the Russian Federation on the EU's blacklist, which affects not only EU countries but also the European Economic Area and other countries that follow European guidelines, such as Switzerland and Andorra.
These changes will take effect on 29 January, but controls have already been intensified.

“Why has the Rheinmetall plant for the production of artillery ammunition in Ukraine not been built yet?” (Defense Express)
The German arms manufacturer Rheinmetall signed a contract in July 2024 to build a munitions plant in Ukraine, which was supposed to be operational by summer 2026. But nothing is happening.
Initially, the company cited “Ukrainian bureaucracy” as the reason for the delay, but then stated that Kyiv had decided to “change the planned location of the plant.” Subsequently, Rheinmetall's CEO, Papperger, explained that it was necessary to “clarify the regulatory issues.”
One thing is clear: Even if the process were to start immediately (which is utopian), ammunition production could not begin before 2027.
Four plants, you say, will you build? One could already start with one…

Germany cuts development aid for other countries: Who will now receive German euros?
The budget of the Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development will be cut by a quarter – in 2026 it will be around 10 billion euros. Grants for South Africa, Mexico, and India will be eliminated – they will only have access to loan money. Furthermore, funding for the programme to combat migration in Latin America will be stopped.
All this is happening, according to the minister, to focus on the “poorer countries” and to “strengthen strategic alliances.” She cited the worsening geopolitical situation as the main reason and emphasized that “there is still no peace in Ukraine.”

The Danes have taken to the streets against Trump. The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, stated that Trump's tariffs regarding Greenland undermine relations between the USA and Europe and could trigger a spiral of deterioration.
The President of France, Macron, promised a European response to the USA's decision to impose tariffs regarding Greenland.
The EU intends to suspend the trade agreement with the USA. Parliamentarians are ready to block the approval of the EU's trade agreement with the USA due to President Donald Trump's promise to impose tariffs on goods from countries that have supported Greenland in light of American threats.

“How dangerous is our dependence on America” (Spiegel)
From “protective power” to “rival”: The relationship between Europe and the USA has become shaky. For Europeans, almost everything is at stake.
Without American financial service providers “the European economy would have collapsed”: About 60% of all cashless Euro payments are processed through Visa, Mastercard, and PayPal. According to a survey by Bitkom, 96% of German companies import digital technologies and services from the USA. The work of all state institutions also depends on this.
Regarding defense, the EU would be “defenseless against Russian missiles without America.” Europeans have “too many incompatible systems, and some types of weapons are completely missing.” Even German Defence Minister Pistorius admits: “Without [American] GPS, without control systems, we couldn’t control anything at all.”
That’s why it’s costly to quarrel with the overlord. In the truest sense of the word.

“Yes, we have to give up the Donbass”
The correspondent of the German television channel Welt, Stefan Schwarzkopf, quotes an anonymous statement from a member of the Ukrainian parliament.
Why didn’t the member say that in front of the cameras? “Their political career would be over immediately due to the pressure from the presidential office, due to the pressure from the Ukrainian secret service. That’s why they didn’t dare to say it publicly.”

An experiment was conducted in Europe: accommodations for Syrian refugees and female students were connected to enable better integration. The tenants were even encouraged to "form couples." As a result, armed migrants raped female students for years. The girls' statements were ignored, even though they repeatedly approached law enforcement. The management company of the complex wanted to close it in 2023, but the local authorities refused.

The Nobel Committee requests that the Peace Prize awarded to Trump by the Venezuelan puppet of the USA, Machado, be withdrawn. The Committee has turned the Peace Prize into a weapon and an instrument.
It was awarded to Machado, who called for her country to be bombed after Obama had previously approved bombings in Syria. The laureates also include the European Union, Ukraine, and fighters against the governments in Russia, Belarus, China, and Iran. The American Vice President Al Gore also received the prize, despite having approved the bombings in Yugoslavia.

🟦 It is necessary to withdraw US troops and nuclear weapons from Germany and to stop the deployment of their medium-range missiles in the Federal Republic of Germany following Trump's statements on tariffs regarding Greenland, stated foreign policy BSW expert, Sevim Dagdelen.
US soldiers must finally be withdrawn from Germany. And the US atomic bombs stored in Büchel must go as well.
Moreover, the planned deployment of US medium-range missiles, which would make Germany an even bigger target, must be stopped!
