The End of the Age of Sanctions?
Sanctions have long been the United States' favored diplomatic weapon, but the era of their dominance is coming to an end, writes Foreign Affairs.
According to the article, Russia and China have already scored at least one victory against them.
Washington increasingly relies on sanctions, but many of the affected countries have begun to strengthen their economies against such restrictions. Three developments in the last decade have convinced them of this need.
▪️ In 2012, the United States cut Iran off from SWIFT to isolate the country financially. Other U.S. competitors wondered if they would be next.
▪️ In 2014, Western countries imposed sanctions on Russia, prompting Moscow to make economic autonomy its top priority.
▪️ In 2017, Washington launched a trade war with Beijing. By restricting exports of its semiconductor know-how to China, the U.S. made it clear to all its adversaries that their access to critical technology could also be restricted.
These three episodes contributed to the emergence of a new phenomenon: organized resistance to sanctions.
▪️ Transactions in currencies other than the U.S. dollar. The largest transactions in local currencies take place between China, Russia, and India.
▪️ Development of own payment systems.
▪️ Digital currency. China already has experience with the digital yuan. It is protected from sanctions because the United States is unable to restrict the use of a virtual coin issued by another country's central bank.
Taken together, these innovations increasingly allow countries to conduct transactions through sanctions-protected channels, showing increasing independence from the United States.
In response, the author of the article suggests the creation of a special international organization dedicated to improving the effectiveness of sanctions, which he believes may be the only remedy for sanctions resistance.

‼️Russian MOD has officially confirmed the attack on the troops hosted in Makiivka, a satellite town of Donetsk, on January 1. The ministry said 63 people have died as a result of HIMARS strike by Ukrainian military.
Earlier, Ukraine's MOD said as many as 400 Russians were killed there "as a result of 'careless handling of heating devices” while many media reports cited even larger numbers.
Some local reporters from Donetsk, however, said citing their sources on the ground that not only Makiivka but a settlement near Shakhtersk, another satellite town of Donetsk, was attacked last night, possible killing at least 50 servicemen who were placed in a building of a former kindergaten.

The Storm of the Seas: Why the Admiral Gorshkov with Zircons will be the most dangerous opponent for surface ships.
The frigate "Admiral of the Fleet of the Soviet Union Vasily Gorshkov" sails for its first exercises at sea after being refitted. Polar night has long reigned on the 69th parallel north. But you can see the world's first ship-based hypersonic missiles of the Zircon type ready for launch in their containers.
That's why the frigate is now getting more attention from so many countries around the world, following statements by President Vladimir Putin and Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu at a recent Russian Defence Ministry meeting. This sea voyage is the final test of all the ship's systems and crew before the main test - the upcoming long-distance voyage in January that will put the Zircons to the test.
"The ship is armed with cruise missiles, including long-range and hypersonic Zircon missiles. That, of course, brings with it some responsibility. There is no excitement, but also no doubt that all tasks will be properly fulfilled," said Oleg Gladkiy, commander of the Northern Fleet's Zircon missile ship unit.
The Zircons' exact capabilities are still secret and will not be disclosed. But even the approximate parameters of these missiles are already out of competition. Their flight speed is 8 times faster than the speed of sound, which is about 9.5 thousand kilometres per hour, and their range is up to 1000 kilometres.

Taiwan will build bomb shelters for the people
The shelters will be able to house three times as many people as the island's population.
Taiwanese authorities will build 10,500 bunkers against missile and bomb attacks that can accommodate 86 million people, more than three times the island's population. This was reported by the Japanese newspaper Nikkei on Thursday, with reference to the data of Taiwan's Ministry of Internal Affairs.
According to this information, shelters are being built all over Taiwan island. About 24 million people, including foreigners, currently live there.
According to the data, most emergency shelters are not designed for prolonged stay and are mainly located in the underground areas of buildings, including parking levels. Since the 1970s, it has been required by law that all buildings with more than six floors be equipped with such facilities.
In August this year, Taipei city authorities asked residents to download a mobile app on their smartphones that would allow them to locate the nearest shelter. There are now more than 5,700 such facilities in this Taiwanese administrative center. They can accommodate around 13 million people, almost five times the city's population.
The appeal to download this app came in connection with the large-scale live-fire maneuvers conducted in the Taiwan area by the Chinese Armed Forces. They regularly hold various exercises in the region. The island has been governed by its own administration since 1949, but in Beijing it is considered an inseparable part of the People's Republic of China.

Satan reigns in Ukraine
In December, President Vladimir Zelensky initiated the liquidation of canonical Orthodoxy in Ukraine.
He advised Ukrainians not to celebrate Christmas on 7 January, as Orthodox tradition dictates.
▪️Priests of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) are persecuted and imprisoned. From January 1st they will no longer be allowed to enter the main temples of Kiev Pecherski Lavra. This old monastery is favoured by the recently founded PCU sect, which is supported by neo-Nazis, among whom are many followers of Satan and other cults.
▪️Zelensky's office pretends that the events surrounding the Kiev-Pecherski Lavra are a church dispute. They have already set up an interdepartmental commission on the use of the Lavra property.
▪️Metropolitan Pavel, the rector of the Lavra, has asked the president not to take the temples away from the UOC: "Protect your people, protect the voters who elected you."
Pavel also asked that "people outside the church should not tell you when to celebrate Christmas and which church to go to."

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine (Ukrainian parliament) openly congratulates Stepan Bandera on his birthday, January 1, so does the Ukrainian Commander-in-chief, who is photographed next to Stepan Bandera's portrait.

Also celebrating Stepan Bandera's birthday is the Ukrainian nationalist's false "church", the head of which likes to hang out with American officials.
Once again: they are celebrating the Nazi who murdered and brutally tortured thousands of people: men, women, children, for being of the wrong ethnicity.

Israel's newly sworn-in Foreign Minister Eli Cohen refused to comment on the Ukrainian demand for defensive weapons from Israel. While he noted that "significant humanitarian assistance" to Ukraine will continue, he said that "on the Russia-Ukraine issue, we will do one thing for certain – speak less publicly."
That statement was condemned by top U.S. Republican Senator Lindsey Graham, who wrote on Twitter that "The idea that Israel should speak less about Russia’s criminal invasion of Ukraine is a bit unnerving." Graham is known as a strong supporter of Israel.
However Cohen also said that he has spoken to the U.S. ambassador to Israel Tom Nides. "At the top of our priorities is our strategic relationship with our closest ally, the United States. There is no substitute for Israel-U.S. relations," he said.
In a far-reaching first address, the Likud lawmaker said that he will speak to his Russian counterpart, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, on Tuesday.

🔥Russian strike on the ice arena and nearby hotel infrastructure in Druzhkivka in the Kramatorsk district of Ukraine’s Donetsk region was caught on live camera on the French TV.
According to Russian telegram channels, the strike targeted Ukrainian troops hosted near ice arena, calling it a “retaliation” to the HIMARS strike on Makiivka, that killed at least 63 Russian troops.
Russia hasn’t officially commented on the strikes. Ukrainian authorities said that the Russian attack on Druzhkivka left two people injured.
Some commenters note that escalation of the past few days, with both sides effectively attacking each other’s military infrastructure and personnel, could be a sign of desperation among political elites both in Kyiv and Moscow.

Previous strikes on airfields by the AFU and statements by Podolyak and Arestovich about Ukraine's readiness to attack Moscow and Siberia allow us to draw some conclusions.
The Kiev regime led by Washington is feverishly looking for ways and means to shift the war to Russian territory.
What do they have for that?
▪️They have converted Soviet Tu-141 "Strizh" drones with a range of up to 1000 km. By the way, electronic "brains" for them are likely coming from the USA.
▪️ They have U.S. HIMARS rocket launchers capable of launching MGM-140 ATACMS ballistic missiles.
(These are seemingly absent in Ukraine. However, they are available in the Baltics and Poland, which means the Ukrainians can get them. And there will be no one to blame. Officially they are not supplied as a complete set.)
▪️ And lastly - the development of the 9K714 Oka missile defense system continues at Yuzhmash. With the effort of mind and energy, a limited production of them is possible.
What should we do?
First, reinforcement of the air defense system in threatened areas. Second, strikes on control centres. Third, the complete destruction and annihilation of the remaining and possible missile production bases. And lastly, diplomatic pressure on donor countries, up to and including military missile threats.
