US arms companies bring retirees back to work to boost production for supplying Ukraine
Most of the world's largest arms corporations are now engaged in the production of tanks, multiple rocket launchers and ammunition for the Ukrainian conflict, The Wall Street Journal has reported.
▪️American Raytheon Technologies has brought back retirees to boost production of Stinger antiaircraft missiles.
It also dismantles old weapon models to get parts for new weapons.
▪️The L3 Harris company received a $200m order for drones for Ukraine from the US Department of Defense.
It even uses computer chips from old radios in production.
▪️ One of Europe’s biggest arm makers, Rheinmetall, is buying out its rivals and expects major new contracts next year.
It has acquired the Spanish explosives firm Expal Systems.
▪️The USA alone has spent more than $17 billion for weapons, equipment and ammunition for Ukraine.

🔴Tightening screws
From December 1, a new law will come intro force in Russia, expanding the list of military-related information that cannot be reported on (as gathering and disseminating such information could be used in the interests of foreign nations). The corresponding order of the Federal Security Services was published on November 17.
The long list contains 60 points, breaching which could land anyone being labelled a “foreign agent”. Some of these points are worded rather abstractly, legal experts say, making it extremely difficult for media, bloggers and general people to report or write anything related to the “special operation” or the army.
In particular, the list includes analytics and forecasts concerning the military-political situation; information on civil and territorial defense measures, the deployment and security of military facilities and military formations; information on the equipment of the territory of Russia for defense purposes; information on the passage of military service by citizens, on mobilization, on logistical and financial support of troops, about the psychological climate in the troops. It is also prohibited to mention the personal data of military personnel and their family members.
⚔️Weaponizing support
NATO military alliance pledged Tuesday to help Ukraine repair and defend critical energy infrastructure. Russian President Vladimir Putin “is trying to weaponize winter — to force Ukrainians to freeze or flee,” NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said Tuesday in Bucharest, where the alliance’s foreign ministers are gathering this week, along with representatives of Finland and Sweden, which have been invited to join the alliance. In a joint statement, NATO’s foreign ministers said the alliance “will maintain our support for as long as necessary.”
Allies, they said, “will assist Ukraine as it repairs its energy infrastructure and protects its people from missile attacks.” There is a need to help Ukraine “to repair and to replace what has been damaged,” NATO chief Stoltenberg said. But, he added, it is also necessary to support Kyiv as it seeks “to shoot down incoming drones and missiles.”
Ukraine has been urging NATO allies to provide it with more advanced weapons including anti-missile systems, however it has not been very successful so far, with many European countries refusing to provide it with such weapons. Germany, for example, argued it can not provide Ukraine with the Patriot air defence systems, previously offered to Poland, as Ukraine is not a member of NATO.
🔥Yandex’s new reality
Russian Federal Council will today consider the issue of relieving Alexey Kudrin from the post of chairman of the Accounts Chamber as Kudrin, a former finance minister and Putin’s long-time ally, who has a reputation of being an economic liberal in Moscow, is going to oversee the reconstruction of tech giant Yandex. Last week, local media reported that Kudrin will be given a senior role in Yandex before the new year.
Kudrin confirmed that he had submitted his resignation from the post of chairman of the Accounts Chamber. "In total, I have spent about 25 years in the public sector. Now I would like to focus on large projects that are related to the development of private initiatives in a broad sense," he wrote in his Telegram.
Last week, Kudrin met with Vladimir Putin. At the meeting, he approved with the president a scenario for dividing Yandex's assets, The Bell reported citing courses. Rumours of Russian government expanding its grip over Yandex, which is often referred as “Russia’s Google”, started circulating in March, after Yandex was placed under Western sanctions. The US has pushed the European Union to impose a cap on the price of Russian oil from December 5. The Americans are deceiving their allies and making money by doing so, according to Huanqiu Shibao.
▪️In the wake of several rounds of sanctions against Russia, Europe is forced to seek replacements for Russian oil, while US energy companies are making huge net profits, reaching $200.2 billion in Q2 and Q3 this year.
"The United States fooled its allies into going on the attack and made a lot of money for itself".
▪️The US itself has prepared for a "price cap". On 10 November, the US Department of the Treasury extended the energy-related transaction licences for a number of Russian banks.
▪️Russia, on the other hand, is unlikely to agree to sell oil at a below-market price. A cut in oil production would lead to an increase in oil prices globally.

Ukraine's first lady has accused Russian forces of using rape as a weapon of war in her country as she called for a "global response".
Olena Zelenska, 44, was speaking in London at an international conference to tackle sexual violence during conflicts.
"Sexual violence is the most cruel, most animalistic way to prove mastership over someone. And for victims of this kind of violence, it is difficult to testify in war times because nobody feels safe", she said.
