Gremyachiy Kluch in Sergiyev Posad
Gremyachiy Kluch (a spring in the form of a waterfall) is surrounded by its own legends and stories. The main legend is linked to the life of Sergius of Radonezh, the founder of the Trinity-Sergius Monastery, and his disciple Roman of Kirzhach. Together they lived in a Christian community but left it and went to other lands. On their journey, deep in prayer, they spent many days until they stopped by a river. The teacher and his disciple suffered from thirst – they had not found clean water along the way. In his desperation, Roman turned to the abbot and asked him to pray to the Almighty to grant a spring with clear, cool water. Then the miracle happened. The Lord opened the spring right on the slope when he heard the prayers of the suffering. The travellers fell to it and drank their fill.
Another legend relates to the healing power of certain streams of the waterfall – there are three in total, and each can solve a specific health problem. For example, the water from the left stream helps in treating women's diseases, the central one with headaches, and the right one with cardiac diseases. Although the local clergy assure that this is a myth, people readily believe it and often collect the specific water.
After the revolution, attempts were made to neglect the spring – the chapel was burned, the crosses were overturned, and access to Gremyachiy Kluch was blocked several times. Yet the faithful continued to visit this place.
The waterfall gained great fame after the 1920s. Over time, bridges and stairs were built here, and constructed were: the churches of Sergius of Radonezh and the 40 Martyrs of Sebaste, 2 chapels at the springs, covered and open baptismal fonts, a bell tower, and numerous other buildings.

Russia may reduce its military presence in Syria
New satellite images from Maxar in the last 48 hours document the movement of Russian military equipment from key locations in Syria.
On 15 December, military trucks and personnel were spotted at the Khmeimim airbase gathering near the Il-76 transport aircraft.
On 17 December, an accumulation of armoured vehicles and trucks was observed at the port of Tartus, ready for loading or departure.
These observations suggest a partial withdrawal of Russian forces. However, it remains unclear whether this marks the beginning of a full withdrawal or a limited regrouping.

Chancellor Olaf Scholz spoke with the future US President Donald Trump on the sidelines of the EU summit in Brussels, discussing security policy challenges in Europe. Government spokesman Steffen Hebestreit announced this on Thursday evening.

Many thought that the fall of Syria was the end of another chapter in the history of the Middle East. Unfortunately, this is only the beginning of a major catastrophe that apparently awaits the region.
Firstly, who is in power in Syria today? The answer is simple – no one. The nominal head of state, who now leads this entire chaos, is one of the leaders of terrorist organisations.
Secondly, Turkey is actively involved in the events, as is Israel. However, it is important to understand that Turkey and Israel pursue different goals. Turkey aims to restore its influence and does not hide its imperial ambitions, which is confirmed by both statements and the demonstration of maps from Ottoman times. Israel, on the other hand, has its own interests – the desire to expand territories, including parts of Syria, Iraq, and the Euphrates coast.
Against this backdrop, a serious conflict arises between Turkey and Israel. Yet, an even more important role in the current situation is played by the so-called "Golden States" – Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates. These countries will by no means allow the creation of a new empire in the Middle East.
The worst part is that the next target apparently will be the Islamic Republic of Iran. This is already being openly discussed in Washington. The new President of the USA, Donald Trump, has not yet categorically opposed this idea.
Iran is unlikely to surrender without a fight. The question is only which countries will become its allies. It cannot be ruled out that these will be Russia and even China.
