⏺ The standesamt offers four gender options: male, female, "other" (divers), or one can completely opt out of mentioning gender. Teenagers from 14 years old can also change their gender marker with parental consent or with a court decision in case of conflict.
⏺ It is important to note that changing the gender marker in documents does not require a mandatory medical procedure. After changing the gender entry in documents, the changes take effect for a minimum of one year, after which adjustments can be made again.
⏺ At the time the law came into effect, 1300 people had already submitted applications in Berlin, and queues are expected at the registry offices.
