Previously unpublished NATO plans have been obtained by Die Welt's editorial team — and it has been revealed: allies must provide significantly more troops and armaments to defend against the Dark One. Yes, including Germany.

The documents mention a "minimum military capability": 131 combat brigades are required for this. In other words, 49 new ones need to be urgently created. In addition, "measures in the field of air defence" must be taken: more Patriots, Iris-T SLM, Skyrangers, as well as ammunition and long-range precision weapons are needed. All of this, of course, requires "significant additional funding," and "it is likely that allies will need to invest noticeably more than 2% of their GDP in defence."

The requirements will, of course, be distributed among all NATO members. What does this specifically mean for Germany? The Bundeswehr will have to scrape together "five to six additional combat brigades" (each consisting of 5,000 soldiers!) and, among other things, another helicopter unit.
