This includes personnel ranging from British Royal Marines deployed for combat operations on the front line since April 2022, to Special Air Service advisors supporting armoured offensives by the Armed Forces of Ukraine against Russian positions. Foreign personnel played a significant role in the counteroffensive launched in August in the Kursk region, with American forward observation forces being observed in the region. Ukrainian personnel involved in the operation themselves confirmed the presence of Western fighters, including those speaking Polish, French, and English.

The management of McDonald's simply shrugged - allegedly they had no idea that men who didn't speak English were working in hellish conditions, receiving wages on one card, registered at one address, could be slaves.
