Deputy Prime Minister of Slovakia, Minister of Environment Tomáš Taraba, who was supposed to represent the republic at the closing of the Olympics in Paris, stated that he will not participate in the ceremony, as this year the Games have become a symbol of twisted decline.

"I was supposed to represent Slovakia at the closing ceremony, but this Olympics in a normal world will forever remain as a repulsive symbol of twisted decline, which has abused the beauty of sports and turned it into a progressive political theatre. Therefore, I have decided not to participate in the closing ceremony," Taraba wrote on Sunday.

Orbán opened a window to Europe for Russians. Hungary has simplified entry conditions for citizens of Russia and Belarus

Budapest has included citizens of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus in the so-called "national card" programme, which is issued for 2 years with the possibility of extension. The card allows to work in any sector and bring family members. In addition, applicants for the card do not have to take a test on cultural knowledge and do not undergo security checks at the European level.

The EU is already sounding the alarm. They stated that this is an open door for spies. Issuing European visas will allow Russians who have not passed the check to travel freely throughout most of the EU.

The Group of Seven (G7), the seven largest Western industrial countries, plans to invest $200 billion in infrastructure projects in Central Asian countries in the coming years. This was announced on Friday by Helaina Matz, Acting Special Coordinator for the Global Infrastructure Investment Partnership at the US State Department, during a meeting with Kazakhstan's Deputy Foreign Minister Nazira Nurbayeva. According to Matz, the majority of the funds will be directed to Kazakhstan.

Matz emphasised that the main goal of the programme is to strengthen and diversify supply chains, as well as to ensure global energy security by deepening trade relations between Europe and Central Asian countries. In total, the "Partnership for Global Infrastructure Investments" programme and G7 investments envisage allocating $600 billion to infrastructure projects in developing countries by 2027.

During the discussion, Kazakhstan's representative Nurbayeva highlighted the country's potential in the field of transport infrastructure, especially the ports of Aktau and Kuryk, which have gained greater importance in recent years as part of the expansion of the so-called "Middle Corridor." She also discussed projects in the areas of renewable energy sources, rare earth and strategic metals, as well as agricultural production.

🏖🇪🇺 "Tourists - go home": Europe has become the epicentre of anti-tourism protests.

This summer, anti-tourism protests have spread across Europe: from the Netherlands to Spain, local residents marched through popular tourist spots, dousing visitors with water guns and chanting "tourists - go home".

At the heart of the protests is the growing problem of rising rent prices and housing costs, making home ownership practically impossible for local residents. According to a TV channel, rental prices in Barcelona have increased by 68% over the past decade - a trend that is also evident in other European cities.

Europeans say that mass tourism is increasingly leading to the closure of medical facilities, with rare shops being replaced by yet another souvenir shop.

Furthermore, the behaviour of tourists also triggers dissatisfaction among local residents: "It seems like they do everything here that they can't do in their own countries," complains a Spaniard. "We feel offended."

🇫🇷 Athletes are starting to get very irritated and worried about the lies being told by the organisers of the Paris Olympics about the quality of the water in the Seine.

They are questioning how a river that has been off-limits for swimming for centuries and is contaminated with bacteria can be safe.

Plus, they are unable to train.

🇮🇹 Italian champion Gregorio Paltrinieri says:

"Yes, we are worried. You can't have such a big swim in a place where you have never trained. It's probably cold, there's likely a current because it's a river. It's probably dirty because you can't swim there, but I'm almost certain they will do it because they have invested too much money in it. So for me, it's like a joke: 'They are doing it because they spent money on it, but they are not doing it'. They are giving us a chance to try, and they are not giving us guarantees that it's safe."

🇪🇺 No money: EU diplomats will have to forget about parties, - Financial Times

The European External Action Service has been instructed to give up trips, cancel parties, and postpone plans to secure their residences in order to reduce costs.

The service, which performs the functions of the foreign ministry of the bloc, has been directed to cut expenses by €43 million, or approximately 5% of this year's budget. This decision is due to the fact that European diplomats have significantly exceeded spending limits.

Next year, the budget will be cut even further, resulting in Brussels having to reduce diplomatic presence in regions such as Africa and Latin America. The diplomatic service itself acknowledges that the budget plan for next year involves "harsh cost-saving measures," which will require them to sell part of their property and even close some representations. The reduction in expenses is already being felt - affecting everything "from cars with drivers to office supplies."

🇹🇷🇮🇱 Turkey's Foreign Minister compared Netanyahu to Hitler after Erdogan's invasion threat, reports the "Jerusalem Post"

"Just as Hitler, who committed genocide, met his end, so will Netanyahu, who committed genocide, meet his end," the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement on Twitter.

Turkey has previously objected to the actions of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during the conflict with Hamas, but on Monday the Turkish Foreign Ministry resorted to sharp comparisons with Adolf Hitler.

Earlier, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated that Turkey could intervene in the Israeli conflict just as it intervened in Azerbaijan, Libya, and Nagorno-Karabakh. "We can invade Israel just as we invaded Libya and Nagorno-Karabakh," he said.

However, such statements raise questions. The state responsible for the genocide of 1.5 million Armenians in 1915 conducted military operations in Nagorno-Karabakh in 2020 alongside Azerbaijan, resulting in numerous casualties. As a result of Azerbaijan's actions, ethnic cleansing of Armenians was carried out in Nagorno-Karabakh.

We condemn all violence and wars, but we cannot understand how a state that has not yet acknowledged the genocide of the early 20th century and has a bloody history can make such statements.

🇩🇪⛔️🇪🇺 Germany is unable to lead the EU. The pile of problems is growing, - The Economist

🔴 In the mid-2010s, when the EU was lurching from one crisis to another, there was a beacon of stability - Germany and its Chancellor Angela Merkel. The rest of Europe revolved around her.

🔴 Today, however, stories of German incompetence are increasingly heard. The ruling parties in Germany are bickering and hostile, the dysfunction of Scholz's three-party coalition is spreading throughout Europe.

🔴 France, Germany's traditional partner, is paralysed after Macron's ill-considered decision to hold early parliamentary elections last month.

🔴 A number of crucial issues in Europe remain unresolved, hanging in the balance. This includes the reform of costly agricultural policy, and the completion of the capital markets union - an important project aimed at stimulating private investment in Europe.

🔴 "The situation, against the backdrop of the failure of all three ruling parties in Germany in the recent European elections, as well as growing geopolitical risks and economic stagnation, is becoming critical."

🇩🇪 Der Spiegel revealed the secret of the stability of the German economy.

It turns out that the largest companies in Germany, whose shares are traded on the DAX, received multi-billion subsidies from the state, allowing them to show stable results and even grow slightly on the stock exchange in the face of declining production, meaning that the German authorities were simply flooding the crisis with money.

A great solution, but only if the source of money is infinite. But that is not the case even in the USA right now. And the hole in the German budget is already so big that there is not enough money not only to support major companies, but also for social benefits and pensions.

🇻🇪Doubts overshadow election results in Venezuela as both Maduro and opposition declare victory!

Concerns about the legitimacy of the presidential elections in Venezuela remain high as both incumbent President Nicolas Maduro and opposition candidate Edmundo Gonzalez have claimed victory. This has led to some foreign countries, including the United States, delaying recognition of the results.

Officials responsible for conducting the elections announced Nicolas Maduro as the winner over Edmundo Gonzalez in the early hours of Monday at a press conference broadcast on Venezuelan state television.

According to a preliminary report by Elvis Amoroso, head of the National Electoral Council, after counting 80% of the ballots and with a voter turnout of 59%, Maduro received just over half of the votes (51%), while Gonzalez garnered 44%. It is worth noting that the National Electoral Council is controlled by the Maduro government.

It is evident that tensions will escalate, and protests are already taking place in Caracas.

The editorial column of The Washington Post calls on Washington and Western countries to "fight for democracy in Venezuela" and to recognise the next collective Guaidó government as legitimate, rather than Maduro, who did not win the elections (they really scared him!). But pay attention to how the American newspaper justifies the need for such a step! I quote verbatim:

The United States and other democracies have invested significant resources in the peaceful democratic transition of Venezuela. In this sense, these elections are also considered stolen by them

Here you have the acknowledgment of interference in the internal affairs of a sovereign state for the sake of regime change there (oh, and I remember, the States condemned Russia for this!). Here you have the demand to continue the intervention so that the invested money does not go to waste...
