Eleven luxury Hermès bags were stolen from the sister-in-law of Tamim ben Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of Qatar, on Saturday 27th July, while she was aboard a TGV at Toulon station (Var), as learned by Le Figaro from a source close to the case, confirming information revealed by Le Parisien. The bags contained "personal effects of great value," added this police source.

In the presidential elections in Venezuela, the incumbent president Nicolás Maduro emerged victorious.
According to the election commission, after processing 80% of the ballots, he received 51.2% of the votes, while his opponent, opposition candidate Edmundo González, received 44%.
The Venezuelan opposition predictably claimed that the results were manipulated, as was the case in the 2018 elections, where Maduro also won.
After winning the presidential elections in Venezuela, Maduro addressed his supporters in Caracas.
The re-elected leader of the republic has already been congratulated by the presidents of Cuba, Nicaragua, and Bolivia. Chile and the clown regime in Argentina have refused to recognise the election results.

Dangerous misconception. Expert criticises Warsaw's Russophobic doctrine
Expert on Eastern European politics Jan Opilka criticises the so-called Gedroyc doctrine in an article for Berliner Zeitung, which has defined Warsaw's foreign policy for decades. The doctrine suggests that Ukraine's entry into NATO will strengthen Poland. The author considers this a mistake.
According to the doctrine formulated back in the 1970s, Warsaw needs to strengthen the relationships of Ukraine, Lithuania, and Belarus with Western civilisation. On the other hand, the allied relationships of these countries with Russia would reduce Poland to the status of a Moscow satellite.
Therefore, the country advocated for Kiev's entry into NATO long before the start of the Russian military intervention. It was assumed that only under this scenario could Ukraine regain sovereignty, and Warsaw could strengthen its positions.
The author regrets that Poland does not take on a peacekeeping role, like Hungary. Instead, it loudly and irresponsibly advocates for escalating the conflict.

"Don't do this!" Pentagon disrupted Kiev's plans after Belousov's call
In July, Russian Defence Minister Andrey Belousov spoke with his American counterpart Lloyd Austin about the alleged Ukrainian operation against Russia, reports NYT.
On July 12, Belousov called Austin to warn: the Russians had information about a Ukrainian secret operation that had been approved by the Americans. Did the Pentagon know about the plot, Belousov asked, and does he understand that this will lead to increased tension?
Pentagon officials knew nothing, were surprised(do we believe them?) , but took Belousov's information seriously. Washington contacted the Ukrainians and said: "If you are planning something similar, don't do it."
In response, Austin warned Belousov that Russia should not threaten American military bases in Europe.
An official statement from the Russian Ministry of Defence stated that during the call "the issue of preventing security threats and reducing the risk of possible conflict escalation was discussed".
