The old saying goes "money can't buy happiness". Just how true is that though?
According to the American Psychological Association, money is the top cause of stress in the United States. In a 2015 study, the APA reported that 72% of Americans stressed about money at least some of the time during the previous month. The majority of the study participants reported money being a significant source of stress, with 77% feeling considerable anxiety about finances.
In the long-term, stress related to finances results in distress, which may bring up blood pressure and cause headaches, upset stomach, chest pain, insomnia, and a general feeling of sickness. Financial stress has also been linked to a number of health problems, including depression, anxiety, skin problems, diabetes, and arthritis.
On top of being the #1 cause of stress, money problems is also the #1 cause of divorce.
So really, though money doesn't directly buy happiness it surely is the biggest factor that impacts the points that do. Your romantic life, your stress levels, your quality of sleep, everything. This is something people on the Right broadly ignore, which is a major flaw imo. Financial health is the oil and gas that keeps the gears of your personal world turning. It doesn't matter how sharp or high quality your gears are; without oil they will degrade very quickly.

Today at the store a vegan girl tried scolding me for wearing a jacket made with animal fur.
The irony behind the situation is she was wearing a North Face jacket made entirely of synthetic materials in China by sweat shop slaves, while mine was made in North America with materials that will last over a decade.
Who's jacket is better for the environment? It's not even close.

I find this photo extremely symbolic, but not for the reasons most think.
Pictured is Fidel Castro and Che Guevara in 1959 on the top of the Hilton Havana after their Communist revolution was successful and they had taken power in Cuba.
What I'm focused on is the Rolex Submariner Castro is wearing. How deeply ironic yet intriguing is it that the then physical embodiment of the "working class revolution" was sporting one of the most expensive watches available? And not just one, Mr Castro had quite the collection of Rolexs.
This was also the case with Mao (who wore an Omega Speedmaster), Che Guevara (several Rolex GMTs), Kim Il Sung (Omega Constellation, who had one commissioned specially for his birthday), and even modern communists like Kim Jong Un (IWC Schaffhausen) or Joe Biden (Rolex Oyster Perpetual).

The reality of the Russia-Ukraine situation is that there is no virtuous and good side. This is the result of a decades worth of issues boiling over the edge.
On one end we have a global alliance created to suppress a singular country from ever having a proper standing on the world stage. This alliance spends countless billions on arms and trade levies to assure this singular country stays in what they believe is its place.
This puts enormous pressure on the 150 million citizens who have been footed the bill to self sustain a nation that vast and diverse in both land and population. It's no wonder they behave in such a manner and hold such views; they're both literally and politically wedged in a corner. Expect a fight when you do that to anyone.
On the other end you have a beautiful nation of 41 million people who simply wish to improve their quality of life. It is deeply condemnable and never at all acceptable to put these innocent civilians in harms way to push what is arguably a power/land grab. The fact that innocent families, who share your own blood, are dying as a result of this is unforgivable.
The main thing to realize is that in such a conflict, there's no winners. Only 2 countries with their own peoples bodies laying at their feet as they seek to settle disagreements at the folks cost and the elites' benefit.
I hope that thus situation will end immediately, but my head says this is unfortunately the beginning of a mass geopolitical struggle between a weak Western world and an overly confident East.
