At least four people were killed, and others were injured in a shooting attack on Monday night, Tuesday, around a mosque in the Wadi Al Kabir area of Muscat, according to what the Omani police announced.

The police explained in a brief statement that “the shooting incident in the vicinity of a mosque in the Wadi Al-Kabir region resulted in the death of four people and the injury of a number of others, according to preliminary information,” noting that it had taken the necessary security measures and was collecting evidence and investigating the incident.

Users on the “X” website reported that the incident occurred near the Imam Ali Mosque, while several accounts and media published video clips showing people dispersing amid the sound of gunshots near the mosque, chanting “Oh Hussein,” in reference to Imam Hussein.
