Algerian authorities have arrested 7 people in connection with the tragic accident that killed 5 children, with some calling for the suspension of school trips organized on weekends.

Last Saturday’s incident at Sablat Beach was dubbed “Black Saturday” by media and social media, as the drowning incident shocked Algerians and led to calls for a review of school trips to ensure the safety of children.

Some comments on social media rejected the fact that some allow their children to join such trips, saying that the responsibility lies with families who allow their children to travel to distant areas without checking the seriousness of the organizers.

Several associations, political parties and journalists also called for revealing all the circumstances of the incident and taking strict measures to prevent its recurrence.
