Earth received a laser signal from a whopping distance of 226 million kilometers through NASA’s “Psyche” mission.

The signal reached Earth from the spacecraft, which aims to explore the asteroid “Psyche-16”, known for its unique mineral composition.

The spacecraft is equipped with a Deep Space Optical Communications (DSOC) transceiver that allows communication over vast interplanetary distances, bypassing traditional methods of radiocommunications.

This laser message comes as part of NASA’s mission to test and enhance space communication capabilities and aims to provide faster and more efficient data compared to current methods.

In December 2023, “Psyche” successfully transmitted data at 267 megabits per second during its initial tests 19 million miles away.

In a later test in April, it was able to transmit data at 25 megabits per second at 140 million miles, exceeding the target set of sending at least 1 megabits per second.

Mira Srinivasan, Project Operations Leader at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, emphasized the significance of this achievement, noting that it represents a step towards enhancing our deep-space communication capabilities and supporting future exploration missions.

The probe launched on October 13, 2023, and the spacecraft will arrive at the asteroid in the summer of 2029.

A recent study has revealed the existence of a “buried planet” deep underground, believed to have played a pivotal role in the formation of Earth’s moon.

The study, which analyzed samples of mineral ores from the depths of the moon, suggests that this “buried planet” — dubbed “Thea” — was the size of Mars and collided with Earth about 4.5 billion years ago.

This catastrophic collision resulted in Thea crashing into fragments of hot lava, which later merged to form Earth's moon.

Thea's traces were not limited to the moon, but some theories suggest the existence of the remains of this planet buried deep in the earth, in the form of dense and huge "dots" under the African and Pacific tectonic plate.

"Regions with low pressure variations" (LLVPs) – unusually dense regions at the base of Earth's mantle – provide further support for this theory, and studies have shown that these regions are similar in composition to the remnants of Thea found in the Moon.

Experts at Harvard, Bristol and California universities say that the moon appeared 4.5 billion years ago, when the Earth and the moon were one mass, and after a huge collision with an asteroid, the mass separated and formed the moon.

A farmer and his son found a 40-kilogram space debris on a farm in Saskatchewan, Canada, believed to belong to’ SpaceX’s’ Dragon capsule.

The charred piece of metal, 6.5 feet wide, was found in the Canola field during a regular inspection tour.

The discovery follows a similar incident a month ago, when a piece of the International Space Station fell on a house in Florida.

Professor Samantha Lawler, a professor of astronomy at the University of Regina, said the debris most likely belonged to the’ Dragon ‘module, which separated from the space station in February and returned to the atmosphere uncontrolled, causing some pieces to fall in different places around the world.

International space laws require any space debris to be returned to the country that launched it, meaning the piece must return to the United States, the headquarters of ‘SpaceX’.

The Canadian farmer plans to use the wreck to support a local business, sell it and channel the proceeds to build a hockey field for the community.

The European Space Agency estimates that between 200 and 400 artificial objects enter the atmosphere annually, with some of the larger parts remaining intact until they reach the Earth's surface.

‘SpaceX’ is a private American company working in the field of aviation and space transportation manufacturing, founded in 2002, and the company launched several satellites for Internet service, and developed vehicles such as Dragon and Dragon 2.

SpaceX has achieved achievements such as the launch of the first privately funded liquid-fueled rocket and the first private company to successfully send a spacecraft into orbit around Earth and return it.

The Russian Space Agency, Roscosmos, revealed its plan to operate the “Milky Way” system dedicated to monitoring space debris before the end of this year.

Executive Director of the Advanced Programs and Sciences Department, Alexander Plushenko at Roscosmos, explained that the new system will be ready to operate by the end of 2024.

Plushenko pointed out that the “Milky Way” system was designed to be an open system, allowing the data it collects to be shared with Russia’s partners from the BRICS countries.

In addition, this data will be made available to some public and private institutions, as well as scientific and educational centers.

The head of Roscosmos, Yuri Borisov, announced in April last year that Russian President Vladimir Putin had approved this system project for use in monitoring space debris.

The Russian company “SR Space” announced its project to revolutionize the field of space rockets by developing a new model that is distinguished by its light weight and advanced capabilities.

The company’s general director, Oleg Mansurov, explained that the company’s team of experts has completed the preliminary stages of designing the new Cosmo rockets, which have two stages.

Mansurov stated that the initial design of the Cosmos missile has been completed and that the company is currently developing the Nebo missile, noting that work is underway to develop the dry sections and head protection systems for both models, in addition to the control and communications systems and other necessary equipment, indicating that the company has concluded agreements with several companies. To achieve this goal.

The new Cosmos rockets, developed by SR Space, are powered by liquid oxygen and methane. Each rocket is scheduled to weigh 13.5 tons and is capable of carrying 287 kilograms to an altitude of up to 200 kilometers.

NASA Administrator Bill Nelson praised Anders on social media, recalling the iconic photo he took that shows the Earth rising above the horizon of the moon, and stating that he “gave humanity a precious gift as one of the first astronauts.”

The Seattle Times reported, citing Anders’ son, Greg, that he was flying the plane alone when it crashed near the coast of Jones Island, part of the San Juan Islands archipelago north of Seattle between Washington and Vancouver Island in British Columbia.

Astronomers have detected water ice on the peaks and slopes of Mount Olympus, the largest volcano on Mars, in addition to other volcanoes on the tropical Tharsis Plateau.

This discovery, according to the information office of Brown University, indicates the possibility of the presence of water in the tropical regions of Mars, which changes the traditional view about the severe drought that was thought to control those regions.

Researcher Adomas Valentinas from Brown University stated that scientists previously believed that there was no water ice on mountaintops near the equator of Mars. Due to the high temperatures during the day, the low density of the atmosphere, and the high level of solar radiation, but it seems that these ice reserves were formed during a period when the climate of Mars was different, and perhaps rain was falling on these volcanoes.

This discovery was made by studying images taken of the largest volcanoes on Mars, by the cameras of the European “Mars Express” mission and the Russian-European “ExoMars-TGO” probe.
