The Tunisian National Railway Company announced the resumption of the train line linking Tunis and Annaba in Algeria, starting from Sunday, August 11, 2024.

This announcement comes after a hiatus of several years, as the company seeks to strengthen economic and social ties between the two countries.

According to the company’s statement, there will be three trips per week departing from Tunis station on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 08:25 am, while return trips will be from Annaba station on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays at 09:00 am.

The train will stop at several stations along the line, including Beja, Jendouba, Ghar dimaou and Souk Ahras.

Ticket prices for a single trip were set at 38 Tunisian dinars for second class, and 44 dinars for first class.

Algerian boxer Imane Khelif won a historic gold medal in her final fight at the 2024 Paris Olympics, after defeating Chinese Liu Yuang by unanimous decision at Roland Garros.

Khelif defeated second-ranked Chinese Liu Yang 5-0 by unanimous decision, becoming the first Algerian and African boxer to win a gold medal at the Olympic Games.

The International Olympic Committee allowed Khelif to participate, after she was excluded following the semi-finals of the World Championships last year in New Delhi, by the International Boxing Federation, which was suspended from the Olympics due to issues of governance, corruption and match-fixing, for not passing the gender eligibility tests.
