More than 50 people were killed this week in the Beni region of eastern Democratic Republic of Congo due to a series of new attacks by militants affiliated with the terrorist group “ISIS.”

According to AFP, the “Allied Democratic Forces” (considered a branch of ISIS in Central Africa) carried out these attacks, with 13 people killed in the latest attack on Thursday, targeting three villages in Beni in North Kivu province.

Kinos Katwo, a civil society official in the Mamove area where the attacks occurred, explained that “seven men and six women” were killed, adding that “several other people are missing.

On Sunday, the city of Kufra was exposed to unprecedented heavy rains that led to flooding inside the Martyr Attia Al-Kaseh Hospital, forcing the authorities to evacuate patients and transfer them to other clinics.

A video clip published by the Red Crescent Society, Kufra branch, showed the efforts of its emergency team in evacuating patients and ensuring their safety.

The team provided psychological support to children from the Sudanese community who were separated from their families during the rain wave, and contributed to securing a safe passage for a Sudanese family whose home was damaged by the floods, in addition to providing first aid to the injured.
